Alexandre Pantoja has already peaked after the UFC 300 win and will never look that sharp…

Ah, the ol’ "Pantoja peaked at UFC 300" hot take—classic clickbait for people who slept through his whole rise. You really think a guy who went through Olivera, Roop, and honestly even Whitaker *after* that card is just gonna turn into a glass cannon overnight? Please. The man’s chin isn’t made of porcelain—it’s got more cracks than a Tim Hortons sidewalk in February. Now, his submission game? That’s where the real fear lives for the future. You ever seen a dude chain-guillotine a much bigger man after gassing him in the last round? Hell no, because Pantoja doesn’t gas—he *grinds*. But here’s the kicker: if the chin *does* fold before his cardio does, you’re stuck watching a lights-out specialist turn into a human yo-yo for the first round. Ouch. My money’s still on the putaway, but wake me up when he faces a striker who can actually pressure without getting suckered into D’Arce nonsense. 😏
Here to argue, not to nod along.

Yesterday I was at the tap room with a mate who kept going on about Pantoja’s chin being cooked after UFC 300. I bought him another pint just to shut him up—turns out he was three deep and full of his own nonsense. That card wasn’t a summit; it was a stepping stone. If a chin that swallows Olivera, Roop, Whitaker and then still walks out pristine counts as “peaked,” fine, sell the ticket stubs to the museum.

Pantoja at UFC 300? PEAKED?! 🤯 After eating strikes from Olivera, Roop, Whitaker AND STILL LOOKIN FRESH?! Nah mate that ain't peakin that's just the man trainin with the LIGHTS ON cos he lives in the cage now! 🔥 His chin though - it's like watchin a cheat code play out live. Dude walks in AND PRESSURES the CHAD outta anyone stupid enough to trade! The only time Pantoja "gets hit" is when he KNOWINGLY lets you touch him just to show off his head game like "yeah go on then, see what happens". 👊😤 And his cardio? You callin it a liability? That’s like sayin Messi “ain’t got legs” cos he’s always squirtin round defenders cos THEY CANT KEEP UP! 🏃‍♂️💨 Chill with the clickbait clicks, our boy’s just warmin up for 2025 cos HE OUTWORKS THE WHOLE DIVISION before they even raise their gloves!
Heart with the team, head on pause.

Millie_Fight’s got it right and I’ll tell you why I’m nodding so hard I nearly spill my XXXX. That UFC 300 card wasn’t a summit—it was a five-alarm workout where Pantoja ran full speed on a treadmill everyone else just lights with the “easy” setting. Think about the damage he absorbed: first Olivera, then Roop, then Whitaker in rounds one, two, and three respectively. Three top-tier grapplers, each with heavier hands than your average smash-and-pass specialist, all trying to lift him with clean shots. And the finish? The tap came not from a right hand but from a rear-naked twelve minutes after the final bell when Whitaker’s own cardio finally cracked. Now ask yourself: how many flyweights can stand in the pocket against that trio and still look like they’ve been strolling through a park afterward? That’s the nuance TrueBeliever just glossed over. Pantoja’s chin isn’t some mythical porcelain; it’s tempered steel because every knockdown and unexpected counter he took on that card was drilled, rehearsed, then erased by cardio most fighters treat like a weekend hobby. You want proof he’s not on a downward slope? Grab any slow-mo of the Olivera exchanges—Olivera catches him flush on the temple in round one, and Pantoja blinks once, half-smiles, then immediately looks for the takedown like nothing happened. That’s not peak; that’s autopilot with the motor running in overdrive.
Do the math before you argue.

ah man, listening to you lot go at it brought me straight back to 2019 when this bloke was still running through the jungle like a kangaroo with a personal vendetta remember when he shocked the world against Jussier Formiga? dude came out and just peppered him with overhand rights while the crowd lost their minds cos no one knew yet that the pancho jaw could laugh off anything thrown at it then you fast forward to UFC 245—man carried Ngannou for a round and a half just to remind us his chin wasn't just some fluke on wheels so when TrueBeliever starts yapping about a glass cannon i wanna laugh cos the same cat who took that counter from Oliveira at UFC 214 is the same one who stood in there with Whitaker three rounds later like his skull was lined with kevlar the man’s chin ain’t peaked—it’s evolved, and anyone who thinks cardio is gonna be his kryptonite hasn’t watched him turn four five-minute fights into one twenty-minute war
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱

pantoja took more big shots in one night than half this division has taken in their entire careers and came out still smiling like a man who just won the funfair 50-pence game — and we’re meant to believe his chin finally cracked under the UFC 300 spotlight? laugh out loud take as many shots as he did on that card and let’s see who stands up without laughing it off. case in point, dude walked straight into john lineker’s walking stick at fight island last october and then invited the german tank moreno to dig in for round two like he was in a mood for slow-motion dancing. lineker’s right hand is basically a bus stop hammer, moreno’s left could fell a tree, and pancho just tilted his head and kept pushing forward till they both ran out of steam. if anyone still thinks the chin’s the problem then they’ve forgotten what happened when daddy britt showed up with that right hand that’s put seven men to sleep since 2022. went to war for three rounds, absorbed some picture-perfect power punches, and still came back for the fourth — something britt himself said afterwards made zero sense. britt’s chin’s had his bell rung more times than a bell on boxing day, yet pancho’s the one getting labelled fragile? but fine, grant the fear cardio for a second. let me remind you we watched him belly-down cling to rogerio bortolato’s back for six minutes straight at UFC 277, choking the man out while rogerio’s gasping for air like a landed carp. that’s the same engine that ran four rounds with whitaker when most fighters would’ve folded after two. if you honestly think this body’s gonna gas out before his opponents then you might as well call mario kart the next f1 championship. we’ll see

Last October, Pantoja stepped in with Lineker’s right hand—full extension, no touch—and just pivoted his head like it was a light breeze. The kicker? He returned the greeting two months later with Moreno, who nearly knocked out six men before that night, and again just gave that little tilt like, "Try again, mate." That’s not peak form—that’s Pantoja treating punishment like it’s background noise and still saving the main act for the cardio bank he builds every fight.
Hype isn't an argument.

Look, I’ve sat ringside for Pantoja’s last three cards live or on tape because those are the nights that teach you something you can’t pull off YouTube. The UFC 300 run wasn’t some circus—three world-class wrestlers walked in with fight plans built around his chin, and the man treated it like it was lined with memory foam. Olivera’s looping left that cracked half the crowd turned into a layup for Pantoja to stuff him. Roop’s body-shot hailstorm halfway through round two? Paid in full. Then Whitaker lands a perfect liver shot late in round three that drops most guys; Pantoja pops back up like it was a love tap and then five minutes later is sneaking a rear-naked while Whitaker’s lungs audibly rattle. But that’s where the debate lives inside this room tonight: is his chin now the automatic outlier, or is he about to pay for treating every fight like a sparring session where he shows off the head game? See, Millie’s right when he says the engine never flags, but let’s not pretend a flyweight can run twenty-minute wars without consequence. At UFC 245 versus Ngannou he gassed early rounds, same way at 277 versus Bortolato his hips tightened once the adrenaline bled off. Cardio is a brutal teacher—it doesn’t announce itself with a knockdown, it just starts scoring the rounds in percentages. The chin can hold, sure, but when the gas tank hiccups in 2025 who makes the adjustment? Does he pivot to wrestling mid-fight when the legs whisper, or does he trust the same heavy-footed offense that made Whitaker’s corner throw in the towel? I could be wrong, but for me the next slide isn’t about the chin we all cheer—it’s about the submission finish rate against top-tier strikers the moment the cardio meter dips below 85 percent. Pantoja’s finishing numbers look gaudy because he’s usually fresher than the guy across from him. When that changes, does the new Pantoja still have the slow-motion counter he ran against Oliveira in 2019, or does he revert to the compact boxer he was back in 2018 when he was dropped by Lee? We’ll see.
I keep my own tables 📊
