Word is... Penn’s agent phoned Costa’s camp last week about a "sparring slash cameo slash legend rescue". 🤡💸

You actually buying that Penn’s gonna drop everything for some "beast mode" cameo because Costa slid into his DMs with a Venmo request? 😭 The man’s running BJJ academies in Hawaii like a responsible adult—since when does he answer to "let’s go back to 145 and make the whole world forget Anderson"? Unless his monthly alimony just got an Evander Holyfield quote attached to it, count me skeptical. I'll believe it when he’s on a bus to Vegas with two pairs of gloves and a signed contract under fluorescent lights.
Where's the proof?

BJ in that Octagon again? 🔥 That’s not just sparring—that’s the OCTAGON becoming a HUNTING ground AGAIN! Costa’s fire already burns hotter than 145 champ hearts 💪 but imagine Penn strolling in like ‘remember me?’—wildfire doesn’t even cover it! Every opponent would shiver before the cage even opened! Who wouldn’t sign up for THAT nightmare combo?!

Heart with the team, head on pause.

BJ Penn at 45 trying to reclaim 145lb glory? The numbers stare you in the face before the octagon lights hit your eyes. Four fights since the second Anderson Silva tilt in 2010, and the last one was a decision loss to Michael Chandler at flyweight in 2021—that’s ten-plus years of ring rust with no top-level sparring load to keep the reflexes sharp. Costa’s current schedule is a sprint: Welter, Middle, maybe a late catchweight at Super-Welter, so any cameo needs to happen inside six weeks of medical clearance, not twelve months of YouTube highlight reels from Hawaii. Add that Penn hasn’t fought above catchweight since 2008 and you’re already balancing a 17-year gap in competition weight versus a five-year gap in Costa’s own treadmill. The promotional math is uglier. Dana’s wallet folds faster when you miss weight, so even if Penn signs on paper he’d need two IV bags and a kidney cleanse to make 170 comfortably. Costa’s last missed weight was the Adesanya bout—two pounds too heavy—and that was before Penn’s kids were old enough to read the scale. Small sample though, but every pound over carries an immediate mental tax; factor in Penn’s well-documented conditioning slides after 35 and you’re staring at a 45-year-old eating 285cc of oxygen just to stay vertical for three rounds. Logically the slot only opens if Costa himself sustains an injury in training camp, and even then the UFC would treat it like a band-aid rather than a title push. They’d slot him against a ranked contender at Middle or Welter for three rounds max—not a five-round war, let alone a five-fight run. Penn hasn’t headlined since 2014, and titles don’t materialize because fans draw pixel art on Twitter. Until someone pays the purses he’d be shilling energy drinks outside the cage again, same as last time. So yeah, bring back the beast for the sake of the highlight reel, but reality is a 2024-style neon sign flashing “no vacancy.”

Yeah I remember when BJ was on top of his game, I was a university student in Newcastle back in 2008, watching him dismantle someone in the first round on a Friday night before hitting the clubs. That pace, that rhythm – still nothing compares. Now, sure, TheVetGuy’s got a point about responsibility and age, but FixIsIn’s right: the Octagon isn’t just a gym, it’s theater. BJ stepping in against Costa? You’d have three minutes of pure terror before anyone even lands a body shot, just from the ghosts alone. Costa’s got the engine, but Penn’s got the map to the fire—he’s mapped every inch of that cage before. No one comes out unburnt.
Sample first, conclusions after.

Yo but who ever gave AllInFooty_Zone the permission to speak for THE BEAST 🔥 think about the hype just from hearing Penn’s name paired with Costa’s fire workout tapes—that combo alone would sell Pay Per View on god tier! Alimony? Pfft, Penn made millions off nostalgia before 😤 nah mate the real reason he’d do it? THE HUNT! Imagine the stare down before the bell even rings, Costa’s 230bpm heartbeat vs BJ’s icy smirk like "remember who the fuck opened this gym?" 💀 every promo clip writes itself, sponsors beg for wrap-around ads, Twitter explodes in blood orange memes for a week straight… the UFC wouldn’t dare slap him in catchweight nonsense when half the world would tune in just to watch the legend walk through the curtain again. And bro that middleweight kingsize Costa’s already wrestling with right now? Penn lived and died at 170 like it was his living room carpet—five rounds of Costa gasping in desperation while BJ whispers technique straight into his soul🤌🔥

You're acting like Penn just strolled into the octagon five days ago and still has that same left hand of 2008. Which left hand? The one he hasn’t thrown in a real fight since Chandler? Or the left hand that used to vaporise guys who hadn’t missed weight since childhood? Tell me that spin kicks nothing—I’m genuinely curious: how many deep sparring rounds with active resistance has BJ logged in the last 18 months? Because Costa’s last camp was heavy pad work followed by two weeks of open mats at Roufusport; Penn’s been teaching guillotine setups in his own academy to teenagers who tap him out before the warm-up whistle blows. Pace? Sure. But pace only wins when there’s still ignition behind it, and at 45 you refuel on electrolyte tablets and memories of the Pride GP.

yeah but hold up — you’re mistaking gas tank for rocket fuel. pace don’t mean jack if you ain’t packing the clip in your pocket. back in 2005 when bj carved through welterweights like a hot knife through bacon, his gas was still there but he wasn’t coasting on fame. remember that war against matt hughes in the rematch? five rounds of pure hell — constant pressure, smothering defense, that left hand still packed a punch even when his lungs begged to quit. now pace? sure, costa’s got the turbocharger, but bj’s the only guy i ever saw who could pull the emergency brake in round three and still outpoint you. age hits everyone different — look at dc beating yoel and cyborg dusting amanda over a decade after her prime. magic don’t retire just because the calendar flips one more time.
Seen it all, lads.

good lord, been here before too many times to count... like that time they tried to shoehorn old vitor against pettis in 2017 just so the subs could whinge on twitter about "legacy" instead of what was actually in the cage. vitor walked out and blinked a couple rounds before his rhythm got stolen – same look i see when people start writing checks penn's age can't cash. or how about liddell vs rashad? 3400 pay per view buys later and it's just another octagon full of shattered illusions. time will tell, yeah, but history's got a funny way of repeating itself like a broken record skipping right back to the scratch where it started.
