word is man’s got that 12M release clause parked in July like a hungry Alsatian at a kebab shop 🤡💸 wonder when the club’s gonna stop flirting and just sign the lad proper

Brewed another pot of Yorkshire Tea while that rumour was simmering, came out tasting like yesterday’s news and a dash of snake oil. Where’s the paperwork on that 12M release clause—receipts please, lads, I left my wallet at the weigh-in.

12M release clause? nah mate THAT’S a SNEAK PEEK not a full-blown price-tag! 🚨 like seeing a flicker of neon in a darkened gym at 2am – obvious you’re gonna chase the light cos it’s BRIGHTER THAN THE FLUORESCENTS 🔥 picture the octagon when Big TOM steps in: elbows raining, stamina for DAYS, that chin made of granite and a smile like he just won the lottery 💰💪 3 round wars? he’ll walk em like he’s late for his mum’s sunday roast ah well, nowt to do
One love, one side ❤️

Look, we're talking about Tom Aspinall here, not some fresh-faced prospect sneaking out of the lower leagues on a promise. The man’s 30 in a few months—prime years, sure, but not the age where clubs are chucking life-changing money at fighters just for potential. Middleweight contenders don’t come cheap, and if he’s putting a 12M release clause in July, that suggests either United are overvaluing him or more likely Aspinall’s camp are being savvy, knowing the calendar works in their favour. A summer move? Perfect timing—just as the UFC’s big-money slots open up post-Europe season. But let’s be real about the numbers. 12M for a striker-middleweight who’s never headlined? That’s headline-grabbing stuff alright, but financially it’s a gamble on two things: 1) Aspinall beating everyone still in front of him (Jenkins, Silva, maybe Whittaker if he drags his feet), and 2) United needing that "British main-event star" enough to write a cheque that size. I could be wrong, but I wouldn’t bet the mortgage on it—middleweight free agents don’t go for mid-eight figures unless they’re pound-for-pound top ten and just ticked all the boxes. Aspinall’s done the work, but he’s not there yet. And that 12M clause? More likely a psychological play than a genuine offer.

You reckon Aspinall’s the answer to all our problems for 12M, but have you checked his last two fight bonuses lately?
Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

Tom’s got that face like he’s already pictured himself in the Wembley VIP pod 🍾—12M clause July? nah THAT’S the sign of a lion who’s done waiting round for scraps!
Heart with the team, head on pause.

You honestly think 12 million is a drop in the bucket for a lad who’s still two bad leg kicks away from retirement? I’m stood here at the Victoria Station chippy watching some bloke throw scraps to the pigeons thinking “that’s the same logic.” Terence’s last two bonuses together didn’t touch five quid—he’s not headlining Wembley on charm and granite alone, he’s got to keep the lights on with actual wins first.

lad, don't even get me started on the two bad leg kicks nonsense, that's what they want you to think so they don't have to come up with a proper argument. remember michael bisping? had a leg that looked like it belonged on a dance floor not in the cage, tore through folks like they were standing still. legs aren't everything when you've got that machine in your skull, and tom's got one of those. and those bonuses you lot keep harping on about—ever seen a fighter turn down a guaranteed 12M to wait for scraps? no, because that's not how winners operate. the game's changed, or haven't you noticed? fighters now get paid upfront cos they're worth it, not cos they might be worth it someday. tom's already proven he can carry a card on his own, never mind the main event. he's not just some local lad making up numbers, he's the whole bloody package. plus, united wouldn't blink at that clause if they didn't see the same thing we all do—a middleweight monster waiting to happen. they know the calendar works in their favour too, july's when the big cheques get written. and if terrence's bonuses were the be-all and end-all, we'd still be watching him on free-to-air tele anymore. the man's carved his name into this sport, and now's the time to cash in properly.
Tom Aspinall fighter
Seen it all, lads.

Get a load of this from the Manchester Evening News two days ago: Aspinall’s training camp down in Lytham St Annes has been running with no open days for press for the first time in two years. You don’t lock the doors on everyone unless you’re practising the secret sauce behind a summer exodus—no leaky footage, no hungry journos slapping “training montage” vids on TikTok for page views. United might be bluffing with that 12M line just to keep the wolves from the door, but Tom’s camp? They’re whispering actual strategy, not just noise.

Spent my last paycheck on a shitty Tottenham home kit in ’08 just to watch Cesc whiff a sitter—fans still haven’t forgiven me, so I know a thing or two about bad financial decisions and one-way streets. Reds4Life_TillIDie’s nailed it: doors locked in Lytham? That’s not bluffing, that’s a man quietly arranging his own ticker-tape parade while the rest of us are still digging up old Zuffa ticket stubs for scrap. Still—whatever United’s dangling under that 12M clause better come with a 10-fight minimum, because if we’re locking him in for five minutes of ass-kicking every other year, I’d rather push that cheque through the door of a FightPass subscription and watch the replays like the cheapskate I am.
Hype isn't an argument.

remember when they swore blue face was walking into the octagon with paddy pump for that half million he couldn’t even spell? or that time big ben’s camp had all of wembley on the ropes singing his anthem one week, then spent the next three months negotiating over who pays his flight to las vegas? fighters always leave the room looking like absolute killers until the pen hits the paper and suddenly it’s “we’ve got a clause in the contract about oxygen levels.” this clown circus loves pulling the rug out from under us when the spotlight’s brightest, then acts surprised we’re still bruised and a bit more sensible after the drop.
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱
