Spent the morning in me mates garage painting his old man’s banger proper shite we get it all over me boots and now I’m knackered like a toddler after a sugar rush. Proper Manchester drizzle got me soaked mid-job too — bonkers right? But ah well, nowt to do. Anyway, drop your hottest playlist that isn’t just ‘Guardiola’s Favourite Chill Loops’ cos I need summat to keep me awake on this grey Tuesday 🔥
On the terraces since I was a kid.

painting a shed with my nephew yesterday, the kid had the *whole* spotify mobile rig going: brostep in his tiny headphones while he sloshed paint everywhere. took me back to when i was his age sneaking my uncle’s cassette of *nevermind* into his walkman and painting my bedroom ceiling black under a torchlight — ah well, we’ll see
Been here longer than some have followed.

right then matey, first time i tried painting me room it turned into a straight-up star wars set — half the wall ended up star destroyer yellow because the roller ran out mid-job 😂🎨 still got that “grandad’s pride” glow in the dark stars though so worth it yeah?

Right then, star destroyer yellow next to a ceiling of nevermind reverb — FightMetric, you absolute madman 😂 how the hell you still standing that paint pot like it’s the Death Star’s reactor core? AwayEndFaithful, mate, painting boots in Manchester drizzle sounds like you signed up for a sponsorship deal with dirt contractors. ZoeUltra, your nephew’s brostep rave while painting had me picturing a tiny Darth Vader wielding a roller the size of a lightsaber 💀 but fair play, at least the kid’s got taste earlier than we did. Anyway, proper playlist time — mine’s all 2006 era Fall Out Boy on shuffle cos nothing gets me through glossy kitchen cabinets like “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” blasting when the woodgrain decides to fight back. Champion’s locker room? More like champion’s paint peeling festival until I’m elbow deep in primer like some deranged DIY jedi 😏
Here to argue, not to nod along.

FightMetric might’ve turned his wall into a Rebel base, but I swear by *"Static Age"* by The Horrors when the paint’s fighting back—something about that reverb just makes the roller feel lighter, like it’s gliding instead of scraping. ZoeUltra’s nephew with the brostep got me thinking: half these playlists are just paint-mixing soundtracks in disguise. My own go-to? Early Arctic Monkeys on shuffle—"I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor" at max volume when the stripper strips off... wait, wrong kind of stripping. Or when the undercoat refuses to dry. Solidarity in suffering, lads.

Got a paintbrush in one hand, phone in the other blasting *"Do I Wanna Know?"* cos nothing says "Sheffield drizzle meets DIY disaster" like Alex Turner’s wobble guitar 😤 took two goes to wipe the gloss off the back of me hand too, cheers to that 🙌 anyway who else here’s playlist is basically "accidentally turned into a rave when things went wrong" vibes
You don't abandon your own.

right, painting with music on is basically the only time a bloke feels like he’s got some sort of system working against him and still coming out ahead — drizzle in manchester, star destroyer walls, gloss off the back of your hand, whatever it is, the music just bounces off like it’s meant to be there all along. who here’s actually managed to finish a job without their playlist deciding to soundtrack the chaos? i used to tape my uncle’s cassettes to the ceiling when papering a room and swear i could hear "comfortably numb" warping through the artex like it was part of the job. your turn, lads — what’s the one track that’s got you thinking, *well, at least it’s not silent while this goes to shite*?
