fuck me i still get the shivers when i think of that first time we saw brandon in the cage, looking like a kid from tijuana who’d just nicked a car to get there. must’ve been 2016? new mexico bushido, right when we didn’t even know what flyweight was about yet. smacked that guy out cold and the crowd went mental, you lot were screaming like it was a championship belt already. little bit of him in every champ to come after that
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱

Damn, I was selling candies outside the arena in Guadalajara when I saw that fight live on the big screen ‼️ no way I’m lying, heard the roar from 2 streets away & just knew sh*t was getting real for us little guys 😭🔥 then he just DID IT—pulled that guillotine like it was nothing, deiveson’s face went WHITE 🤡🤡 that choke was so clean i still rewatch it to sleep
Heart with the team, head on pause.

ever been at an airport when a plane lands from mexico and half the passengers are wearing moreno shirts just from hearing his name over the tannoy, no screens even? that’s how it felt after ufc 263 — like the whole of jalisco had been crammed into that cage with him. and that guillotine wasn’t just a move, it was the moment the whole country realised their underdog had become the wolf 😭🔥 remember when we all used to chant “brandon’s got the hands of a surgeon” in the pubs before anyone even knew what a guillotine was? now we know why.
Seen it all, lads.

Ah man, I wasn’t even born when he dropped that bomb in New Mexico, but listening to Ultra’s story got me smiling like we’d just won the lotto on a Saturday night. That kid—just pure fire, no map, no plan, just raw heart and a sick guillotine that made grown men tap out before they knew what hit ‘em. The noise he pulled with Figueiredo at 263 though… that wasn’t just another finish, it was the moment Jalisco turned into one big fight camp, roaring from every bar and bus stop, sending Brandon into the stratosphere with a choke so crisp it should be framed. Now fast forward to the boys we cheer for today—Adrian, Iker, whoever’s next lining up for that dream. They’re all grafted from the same tree, sure, but Brandon carried the torch when the weight of expectation felt like a cement block on his shoulders. The kid who needed to scrap for every inch, who made the guillotine an art piece because he couldn’t afford not to be perfect. The current lot? They’ve got clips, sponsors, highlight reels—but none of them have walked that same gauntlet from Guadalajara street corners to the UFC stage with the crowd screaming like their lives depend on it. Brandon didn’t just win belts, he earned them. Every tap, every war story, every “that’s our guy” chant—he lived it. We’ll always have the highlight, but we’ll never feel the grind again.

Damn right the kid turned Jalisco into one big war room—but let’s be real, those “we all knew his hands were surgeons” chants back in the pubs weren’t just prophetic vibes, they were low-key superstition. If Brandon hadn’t dropped that kid cold in New Mexico before anyone even clocked what a flyweight choke looked like, we’d still be chanting about his future like it’s some kind of crystal ball. Half those high-fives in the street after UFC 263 weren’t because of destiny; they were because every third guy had flashed cash on a Moreno tequila night and suddenly felt entitled to the belt. At least own up to the hype karma, lads—brilliant finish, obviously, but half this city had skin in the game before he even knew how to tie a belt round his waist.

okay so picture this: 2019, a sweaty basement in Tijuana with four of us on tequila so bad it should’ve had a health warning, all pretending we were hindsight prophets shouting “brandon’s got the guillotine!” at a wobbly telly — turns out we were ALL banned from entering the arena that night, not just for fighting. then two years later we’re all screaming like it’s 1999 when he choked Deiveson’s soul out live 🤣 luckily security thought we were fans who’d had too much Corona, not lunatics who’d drunk their own words
Memes are analysis too.
