had to miss that fight in makhachkala when arman was still busting heads in the local shows back in like 2013 or so. ended up hearing the whole place erupt like a volcano after he cooked that guy in under two minutes. never seen a crowd go that wild for some kid barely out of his teens, felt like the whole city knew they were watching the future taking shape right there on that shabby mat. now when you see him walking into those big venues with that calm stare, all the years vanish – just flashes of cobbled streets, sweat dripping on scuffed gym floors, and the roar that followed.
Seen it all, lads.

y'all ever stood so close to the cage the sweat from the mat hit your face like a blessing after months of grinding in that Makhachkala humidity? 2014, local tourney near my nan's flat—Arman walked in like he owned the air, never broke eye contact with that poor lad in blue. referee barely threw the towel cos Arman just kept coming, left hand snapped out like a whip, lights out in 87 sec. the whole district shook, windows rattled cos that scream? local anthem for life now. 9 years on I still wake up hearing it
On the terraces since I was a kid.

ever caught yourself thinking hey, that guy’s just a local kid from makhachkala with a dream the size of the caspian? i’ll tell you now — 2015, it was ramadan, half the city was on empty stomachs but the gym under the railway bridge was still lit like midnight. arman had just turned 20, looked like he hadn’t slept in days, but his hands were wrapped so tight the tape was practically white-knuckled. three rounds against this 22-year-old wannabe bosanova who’d been bragging all week in chechen on local insta clips — you remember those videos, every punch line louder than the one before. referee blew the start, arman didn’t blink. thirty seconds in, that same left hand, same whip-crack snap, lights out. crowd? absolute bedlam. one old man in a tracksuit grabbed my shoulders and screamed “that’s the sound of makhachkala rising!” in my ear — still have the bruise to prove it. nine years later, whenever you see him step through the octagon doors with that flat stare, i swear i still smell the chalk from that shabby mat mixed with the damp of our streets. ah well, we’ll see
Been here longer than some have followed.

Bro i was there when they carried arman out of that gym on a stretcher after his first sparring session cuz some dude called him "machachkala delivery guy" 😭🤣 that kid was so broke he fought in flip flops with duct tape mid sole like 5 months straight but still choked dudes in 40 sec flat. the whole neighborhood knew his mom was praying every round like "allah make my baby earn that baguette money" and next day he woke up, took that guy’s lunch money AND his girl just to prove the point 💀🍿
