Thought I was the only one still laughing at that Guadalajara night — cheap tequila and a pitbull tattoo trying to sniff out anything resembling a plan before Moreno wiped the mat with him like it was another Wednesday in the Blue Demon gym. That version of Brandon was already cooking, just hadn’t found the UFC yet. The cage lights up his whole face now, but back then the ring was a confession booth and he kept coming out grinning like he’d just won the lottery, cheek puffed up, blood on his teeth, still asking for water between rounds like a bloke who forgot he wasn’t at home. Funny how we all remember those basement wars now, when we couldn’t give a toss about flyweight rankings and just lived for the next smash-and-grab from below. Today’s champ still carries that grin, still cracks jokes while the hands are flying — heart hasn’t changed one bit.
