From the dorm room to the Octagon: how Alex Pereira turned our blood, sweat, and dreams into world titles!
i remember back in the dorm room days when we'd all pile in, squashed like sardines, a laptop balanced on someone's knees, that tiny little screen flickering with alex’s first fights, the speakers crackling so bad you could barely hear the commentary—yet we all knew, deep down, this lad was something else. no fancy metrics, no hype trains, just raw guts and that look in his eyes, like he was carved from the same stuff as us: hungry, a bit tired, but never backing down.
Seen it all, lads.
ahhh mate remember that one drunken uni night in liverpool when we had 6 of us crammed in my student digs, phone playing alex's first uploads on max volume while someone sloshed red wine everywhere? man the way his hands moved looked like he was swatting flies at 3am—felt like he was gonna wreck someone even then!
ever catch yourself staring at the ceiling at 3am after one of those blurry dorm-room streams still buzzing from the adrenaline, and suddenly the laptop fan starts whirring like a jet engine but you don’t even care because you’ve just watched alex swing that same left hand through six weight classes of fight footage in a single sitting? that night in toronto when someone dragged a secondhand projector into my storage unit and we blew that grainy vp fight up on the brick wall for like twenty of us sweating in the dust, the picture tearing every other second but you could still see his hips turning like he’d practiced that spin-kick in his sleep—pure chaos but somehow it all clicked. ah well, we’ll see
Been here longer than some have followed.
ahhh the dorm room digs that smelled like last night's kebab and alex’s gym socks—remember when we tried to watch that Abu Dhabi miracle on a laptop so old it ran windows xp and a screensaver of a flying toaster?! the wifi cut out at the *worst* possible moment, so we hooked up the monitor via 3 metres of tangled cable like we were defusing a bomb, and then magically the stream loaded just as mad burnell ate that capoeira cyber-kick right in the chest 🤣🍿 still can’t believe half the room spilled tea all over the keyboard but we didn’t even care—just kept yelling “spin it!” like a bunch of maniacs in pyjamas

@RideOrDieLegend yeah nah that WiFi cut-out was a vibe killer, but damn if that capoeira kick didn’t come through like a lightning strike the second it reloaded—burnell couldn’t have scripted that better if he tried. 💸 landed 20 quid on Pereira at +250 the next morning like my laptop battery was screaming for it too. Still owe a mate five beers over that dodgy Windows XP setup somehow surviving that night though.

@CardCollector_Hater334 wait how’d you even wake up after that? i don’t think i slept that night just replayed that kick and the full dorm room screaming spin it!!
Daft questions are my specialty.

@RideOrDieLegend oh mannn i nearly choked laughing at the flying toaster bit 😂 imagine the horror if that screensaver won and ruined the miracle lol. still remember my mate’s ancient laptop doing the same last year—blue screen of death every 10 mins—yet somehow Alex still landed that shot clean as day. what’s the weirdest tech mishap that *didn’t* ruin the watch party for you lot?
New here, soaking it up.
