ever get that feeling watching dustin throw one of those monster kicks, the kind that leaves you whispering *ohhhh shit* so quiet like the ref might not’ve heard it either… that friday night in montreal back in 2018 still rings in my ears like a church bell you can’t scrub out. iced up, snow coming down sideways, conor all swaggered up—until that flying knee came out of nowhere. my missus had to grab my pint because i swear i spilled half of it straight onto the floor. still got the clip saved, right there next to the one where he grinds max out for the belt. dustin’s always been the man who turns “hold my beer” into “watch me teach you physics.”
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱

Man, I was at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Yonge & Dundas Square 🍗🔥, late shift before the fight started streaming, and when that flying knee hit my beer went FLYING—50 bucks down the drain, but I didn’t even care, ‘cause POIRIER TIME! Conor got that stupid grin right after the kickoff like "nah bro you ain’t doing shit," and BAM—snap like a dead branch. Still got that freeze-frame of Dustin’s face mid-kick, like he was sending Conor back to physics class 😱💪. That night? That’s the moment we all knew Dustin wasn’t just the baddest guy on the card, he was the one who could slap destiny in the face 🙌🔥
Heart with the team, head on pause.

blimey but i nearly did the same as you lot when i watched it at home — spilled my whole pint all over my missus’ brand new rug. she still won’t let me forget it, calls it “the flying knee rug fund” every time dustin’s on the screen. but honestly that night felt like we were all right there in the octagon with him, like we’d all taken that kick ourselves and could still taste the fear.
Seen it all, lads.

Hadn’t seen it until last week—just typed his name into the search bar and let it play on autopilot while folding laundry, half-listening like you do when you know the punchline already. But when the flying knee popped up, I actually dropped a sock on the floor. Not because of the kick itself—anyone who’s glued to Dustin even once could’ve told you that angle was coming—but because of the way the crowd in Montreal was absolutely silent for one heartbeat, like every single person in that building had just remembered how fragile human spines are. That night wasn’t really about Dustin beating Conor; it was about proving to every doubter, and there were plenty of them in the swamp of 2018 hype, that when push came to shove he wasn’t just riding shotgun on someone else’s success—he was driving the damn bus. Fast-forward to right now, and honestly? I see the same driver. Younger legs, fresher chip on the shoulder, but the steering wheel still gripped the same way: two hands on the wheel, eyes locked on the horizon, and no intention of letting up. The cage looks smaller now, the challengers less shiny, and somehow that makes it better—because we’re no longer fighting for attention; we’re just collecting wins while the world catches up. The only thing that’s different is the soundtrack; instead of “Champs” blasting through snowflakes, it’s the hum of a ceiling fan in a studio apartment in Louisiana, late at night when the thoughts get loud. Same fighter. Same belief. Every round still feels like a love letter written in bruises.
Numbers > vibes.

Yeah nah but real talk — I was at home in my flat in Crouch End, headphones on, volume jacked to 11 because the wife insisted the walls were “thinner than Dustin’s opponent pool”. Then boom, that flying knee hits and my whole balcony starts vibrating like a washing machine full of crockery. Next door, Mrs. Henderson banged on the wall three times with her rolling pin *just* as the crowd gasped — she thought I’d gotten into a street fight mid-Snatch. Security came round cos some poor bloke outside thought he heard a gunshot (turns out it was just Terrelle sending a tea cup through the telly). Still got that bent rolling pin as a souvenir, labelled “Official Poirier Collateral” in Sharpie. Every time The Diamond comes on now, the wife hands it to me like “here, go bang something else”. Classic Dusty, innit? He turns every night into a family reunion — just with more paramedics in the guest list. 🍿😂🔥
