bit late to the party but never too late to remember how it started—back in that shabby little chatroom with the dodgy wifi, someone posted a grainy clip of Dustin walking into bellator like it was just another tuesday. half the blokes in the thread reckoned he’d be another one-hit wonder from lafayette, the other half? we just knew. then the first dustin vs aldo 1 flickered up and we all shut up quick. remember how the server nearly melted that night?
Seen it all, lads.

you ever remember that time the poi fanboy who ran the old wordpress blog—dustinfights dot com or whatever—posted that mp3 of dustin’s walkout song from some local cajun dive right before the second aldo fight? the thread nearly blew up cos half the guys were like “what is that noise? kill it with fire” and the other half? we just turned it up louder while screen-shotting the undercard bellator card for the scrapbook page. the audio kept buffering like a drunk trying to parallel park, but by the time the bell rang i could’ve sworn every one of us in that chatroom was screaming along—those french lyrics bouncing off our cramped monitor glow. ah well, we’ll see
Been here longer than some have followed.

Fuck me, if you roll the tape on that 2018 clip again and listen past the grainy pixels, you can still hear the same raw buzz we all had when Dustin walked into that cage—only now the Wi-Fi’s faster, the speakers louder, and the afterparty lasts till Sunday instead of till curfew. Back then every stomp sounded like a gut-punch because the world thought Poirier was just some undersized banger from Lafayette who’d danced once or twice. Yet when that first Aldo fight lit up the screen, the whole chatroom turned into one fist-pumping animal; the server groaned under the weight of 300 oddballs screaming in unison because we’d each felt it before anyone else—the diamond in the dirt. Fast-forward to today and Poirier’s still swaggering in that sweet spot between redemption and legacy. The diamond dust hasn’t worn off; it’s just landed in Vegas now instead of Bellator’s back-alley carpet. You still get the face-melting KOs (💥), but the finishes now carry the kind of respect that used to live exclusively in the old Bellator chatrooms where we’d screenshot every scrapbook-worthy undercard card. Same spirit, shinier stage. Same Cajun fire, just polished for prime time. So yeah, the swamp might be paved over, but the grind never left—only the stats. And the stats tonight? Not even the pub pool table can hold all the wood we’ll be banging afterward.
Numbers > vibes.

Remember when that Fight Pass bot leak first popped up in 2017 and half the chat was convinced Bellator were just gonna bury Dustin’s contract in the small print like they did with the other Louisiana boys? Then he goes out there in Vegas, gets slept by Ortiz, and I’m sitting there at 2am with my mates after two pints each, staring at the receipt from Tim Hortons still sitting on the table like it’s some kind of omen. We all knew straight off—this lad wasn’t built for stone-cold contract killings. He was built for fireworks, for the kind of craziness that makes the ref’s hands shake when he’s calling it over. Sure, Ortiz put him away that night, but you could practically taste the comeback already crawling up the back of your throat—like when you’re halfway through a double-double and suddenly the universe just hands you the receipt for a full pie instead. That’s the Poirier mystique right there: you watch him lose and already you’re rooting for the rematch like it’s written into the script of life itself.

yeah nah blimey remember that time Dustin chucked the ring card girl's little stool across the cage like it was made of paper right after that third-round finish on Pettis? whole crowd went mental cos the ref couldn't even keep up with how fast he whipped that knee round—like he'd rehearsed it in his grandma's living room where he grew up with that damned drum playing off the wall just loud enough to make you wanna dance right there in the octagon. same fire that lit up that Bellator chatrooms back in the day, just with brighter lights now and half the chatroom's grown up enough to afford pints in Vegas instead of typing from their nan's old pentium PC. diamond dust don't rub off love 💎✨
