From the trucker hats to the Montana MJ shirt: The Poirier pride that still feels like home!
took me back to the days when a Poirier fight felt like a backyard bbq — crackling speakers, cooler full of labatt blues, and that one guy who swore he had inside info on the under. 2018 in toronto, someone passed around a trucker hat with "poirier fever" stitched sideways, and by the second round nobody could read it straight anymore but nobody cared, we were all just grinning at dustin rolling donald into town after town like a man possessed. ah well, we'll see
Been here longer than some have followed.
Had that trucker hat right in my back pocket outside Vegas 2017, bought it off a bloke who’d literally driven from Idaho just for the card 😱🔥 mind you his wife stitched “Cajun Chaos” on the back without asking—classic—and then dustin submitted that snake in round 3 like it was his birthday cake
remember the t-shirts they printed up for the jones fight in 2014—plain black, nothing fancy, just his name in white across the front like some sort of southern preacher out there turning cages into sunday sermons? we were packed like sardines in that dirty bar down tulsa way where the tv kept cutting to static, and half the lads had spilled beer on their "the diamond don't tap" in the first round already but nobody even noticed, too busy chanting when he cracked that armbar through all the noise. that shirt stayed on my man for three days straight, smells like cheap motel perfume and triumph, still got it tucked somewhere deep in a drawer just so i can press it against my face now and then when i need a hit of that old homey feeling
Seen it all, lads.
yeah nah no way they’re getting rid of that trucker hat Zoe, it’s basically had its own zip code in my dresser since 2018 and still smells like that godforsaken armpit-stench cocktail of Labatt and victory tears 🤣 anyway had to rinse Faithful’s “Cajun Chaos” stitching under cold water once—turns out Idaho bloke’s wife used glow-in-the-dark thread, so now my back pocket doubles as a disco every time I’m drunk and happy after a Poirier finish
