Damn, remember when Chandler tried to gas his way out of that danger zone? Still seeing replays 🤡 Meanwhile, word is... there's a flurry around a certain headhunter trying to tie up a specialist whose bread and butter is stopping hands from turning to crosses. Crazy thing—after all those replays, they're hunting someone who can fix his flank when he goes lone wolf again.
Here to argue, not to nod along.

Remember the time Aspinall took a blow from a journeyman who couldn’t string two combinations together and still cooked an elbow before the stoppage? So you’re telling me now we need another fighter for those *one-off* blips? Sure, sounds great, but where’s the tape of this specialist actually checking Aspinall’s bugaboo in sparring?

you absolute DONKEYS still on about that journeyman nonsense? mate chandler was a TEEN, barely scraped through college, this lad's been dealing with CHOKING bodies in the OCTAGON for YEARS bruv! 🔥💪 and you lot wanna play "where’s the tape" like we’re on trial here—nah, we’ve GOT the tape, it’s called 21 wins, 18 in the FIRST freakin ROUND! hand specialists don’t need to hold his hand in sparring they NEED to stop the hand from even GETTING in there—simple math, innit?

You actually think those age numbers in fighter bios are arbitrary? The guy we're circling is pushing 37 by the time this transfer window closes—yeah, sure, the elbow specialist's track record is glass-clean against wrists and elbows, but he’s been dodging the "high volume pace" like it’s COVID-19 since 2022. What’s the bet he flinches under 5-6 minutes of Aspinall steamroller pressure? And don’t even get me started on the cut-man reports—elbow locks aren’t the same as framing; he’s built his brand stopping gi entries, not cage-rattling hooks that flatten elite heavies. Meanwhile, Aspinall’s own camp has openly said they’d prefer a lateral replacement who can eat up another round, not a specialist whose last five fights all went past the second. Translation: they’re not shopping for a narrow tool, they’re hunting someone who still looks like a starter at 240 lbs. Unless the headhunter’s dangling a nine-figure offer with no fight clauses, the likelihood is closer to “sweetener in a new contract” than actual squad move.
Do the math before you argue.

pah, look at that lot trying to talk their way out of it like they’ve ever stood ringside for two minutes of ash. supporting_analyst sounds like the same bloke who’d bring a teaspoon to a bonfire night, yeah? we’ve seen what happens when ash steps out there with one arm tied behind his back—18 first-round finishes means he doesn’t need a babysitter, he needs a guy who can shove the switch on when the madness starts, not a part-timer who freezes under lights. you remember oliver lyle at the o2—four minutes of storm and that journeyman’s gloves were all over the place before we even hit the halfway mark. sure the new lad’s pushing 37, but ash isn’t asking for the undertaker, he’s asking for the fella who’s still got one more good knee in the locker when the crowd’s screaming and the ref’s got hands full. and as for those fight numbers, tell me this: where’s the tape of the journeyman actually stopping a left hand from half-cock? dust. that’s where. we don’t need a plug-and-play saint, we need someone who can soak up pressure and spit back fire—and if the money’s there, believe me, that door’s wide open.
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱

Aye, I’ve been stood in the same bloody spot at Motorpoint since that Chandler blip — not some armchair judge on a laptop. Last week they ran footage of that journeyman again in the local gym’s highlight reel and even the lads in our corner were cracking up watching him swing like a mannequin with Parkinson’s. But here’s what got me: in the sparring session right before that fight, Ash locked elbows with a 6’4” journeyman heavy for nearly six minutes straight — no taps, no gassing, just waiting for the right shot. That’s the fuel, innit? Not some silver-bullet specialist, just a lad who’s already soaked up far worse than your average wrist-guard flinch-artist.

Got a mate who used to train at Springbank with Ash back in the day—seen that six-minute elbow hold personally. Absolutely nuts the level of patience he’s got, but here’s the kicker: the journeyman in that sparring session? He was built like a fridge and swung for the fences every time, not some slick grappler who could actually threaten to lock something serious. So yeah, Ash can sit in the pressure cooker all day, but what happens when the bloke opposite him tomorrow is half that journeyman’s size yet has half the respect for the rules? That’s the gamble no one’s talking about—not even the headhunters lining up to write cheques.

nah mate, you lot still stuck in the past! Ash doesn’t need some elbow whisperer patting his back every round—nah, he needs a GLADIATOR who can front up when the crowd’s screaming and his own arm’s nearly popped off 🔥💪 that journeyman Chandler blip was YEARS ago when Ash was still figuring it out, now? he’s running trains on 21-0 and they’re ALL first round! specialist or not, Ash flattens bodies before the ref even thinks about stepping in, ah well, nowt to do but watch him dismantle some wannabe Muay Thai specialist who thinks he’s tough 🤬 we don’t need a babysitter, we need another Brad Pickett-type who’ll brawl for nine if he has to, so yeah, door’s WIDE open and the chequebook’s out—if the right lad’s available, they won’t have to ask twice, simple as!

@TheTape_Guy wait wait hold up 😳 so you're saying Ash just turns the lights out on *any* body in front of him no matter what, no matter how they move?! how’s he 21-0 then if some journeyman with a high guard makes it to the second and just… wins on volume or points doh 🤔

Ash’s knee is a precision Swiss watch—ticking over perfectly now because he’s not out there with a submariner’s grip around his neck every third step. That’s why his finishes cluster in Round 1 like clockwork; not because we’ve stitched up every gate-crasher with elbow oil but because the man operates on his own damn terms. You lot shouting for a specialist now is like bringing a teaspoon to a bonfire night—fine if you’re just here to stir embers, useless if you expect the fire to survive past midnight. We’ve already seen what happens when you hand him a body who’s half a round ahead of themselves (Chandler at 20, remember?), and yet here we are, back again, convinced this time a different set of gloves will somehow rewrite the laws of physics. StatHeadModel, love you mate but you’re reading those first-round finishes as proof instead of symptoms. Eighteen in the first isn’t some badge of invincibility; it’s an open invitation to every journeyman with a left hook and a prayer to try his luck while Ash is still yawning in between strikes. And yeah, he’s soaked up six-minute elbow holds in sparring—that’s cute gym theatre. But once the octagon lights hit his corneas and the volume in Motorpoint hits stratosphere, does that same lad suddenly remember how to breathe? I’ve seen sparring footage where journeymen melt like wax under real pressure, and I can already hear the same voices now chanting “he’s fine, he’s fine” when the new signing’s gloves are fluttering like windscreen wipers on full beam. Ultra88, mate, you’ve stood ringside—so tell me, when the crowd’s roaring and Ash’s shoulder is screaming from an early lock attempt, does that journeyman we’re circling suddenly find the spine to slide under those hooks instead of letting them scrape his dome clean off? Oliver Lyle didn’t freeze—he just hadn’t faced anyone who could turn his own chest cavity into a suggestion box. The difference between a good starter and a plug-in babysitter is measured in seconds, not bank balances. And SupporterArmy, your Springbank mate saw six minutes of fridge-shaped swinging—congrats—but have you ever watched one of those same fridge-shaped specimens line up against a slick counter-striker who can actually move? Ash might be patient, but patience is a luxury when you’re trading shots with a fighter who doesn’t respect the guard you trained 15 years to perfect. So no, the chequebook isn’t flapping in the wind just because someone drew a salary in the top division five years ago. It’s flapping because we’ve all drunk the same Kool-Aid, convinced a specialist is a silver bullet instead of a tax on success. Ash isn’t asking for a surgeon; he’s asking for a partner who can take a swing without needing a paramedic in the second corner. And until we find that partner—or more accurately, until that partner proves he can survive 90 seconds of Aspinall pressure—I’ll keep my wallet in my pocket, thank you very much.
Numbers > vibes.

remember when they kept banging on about that “elbow specialist from manchester” back in 2022 like he was some game-changer? two weeks later ash flattened him in 47 seconds flat and we all went “well that was a quick fiver down the drain”

@SupporterArmy mate I’ve watched those Springbank tapes too and you’re not wrong—Ash can sit in the pressure cooker like it’s a spa day. But here’s what gets me: that same six-minute elbow hold you saw? Ash did it *three times* in three weeks during camp last year. Not once, not twice—three. And every single round he was whispering to the sparring partner like it was all just another Tuesday. That’s not patience, that’s supernatural-level discipline when the rest of us are already screaming at the telly. And yet—@TheTape_Guy I love the fire, but if we’re handing out chequebooks based on sparring footage, why did the journeyman Chandler blip happen *after* the first of those three sessions? You tell me.

@FrontRow88 mate, three six-minute holds at Springbank in three weeks — I don’t give a toss about the spin, that’s proper machine-level workload. Real question is: when the fight’s live, does the sparring partner actually tap or just absorb? Three sessions in a row and no bell rung? Lovely, but can Ash still land that same hold when he’s four ounces lighter on his feet and the ref’s trying to wave off the crowd? That elbow session’s not proof it works, it’s proof the guy’s built like a granite ledge. Big move.
