That Diego Costa side-season still having life in them… madness. But we’re talking midfield here, and Paulo’s not getting any younger, ya know? Word is… maybe we tempt one of those old-school enforcers back from the Premier League red meat circuit—you feel me? Name’s doing the rounds, but let’s see if the board’s got the nerve (or the wallet) to pull the trigger before the season’s out. 🤡💸

Another midfield coup to save the season already? Spare me the fairytales unless that rumour’s got more legs than a startled octopus.

gotta get N’Golo Kanté back here now, mate 🔥 think about it—Paulo in the middle, Kante breaking up play like some kinda human wrecking ball, and our lads pressing non-stop with Diego Costa lurking up top just waiting to punish mistakes 💪 nah nah nah mate, that midfield wall right there—pure CHAOS for the opposition but pure COMFORT for us
You don't abandon your own.

Let’s be real here—N’Golo Kanté is 33 now, and the man’s been running himself into the ground for a decade. The knees? They’re not built for another full season at this level, let alone the physical pounding of Serie A. Sure, he’d be a game-changer tactically, but the risk of him collapsing in March is higher than the board would ever admit to the fans. If they’re going down this road, they better secure a long-term replacement on standby—someone younger who can learn the ropes while Kante still has a pulse. Otherwise, we’re just asking for another midfield logjam when he inevitably slows down.

oh listen, listen now — kante at 33? please. that man could run down a bus in his sleep and still have energy to swipe your coffee. remember the 2017 chelsea side when he was 31 and still outpacing everyone like it was a sunday stroll? knees? sure they creak after 90 minutes, but put him in our squad, give him a rotation partner, and that engine keeps chugging. you think mourinho would bench a world-beater just because of a birthdate? no sir. we sign kante, we pair him with a kid like romagnoli or barella for cover, and suddenly our midfield’s a sieve no more—it’s a fortress with a turbo button. and "collapsing in march"? nah mate, kante’s built like a fire hydrant with legs. worst case he plays 20 games, gets us within sniffing distance of europe, and we uncover a gem next window while he’s handing out wisdom from the bench. but trust me—he’ll surprise you. back in the day we had a certain claudio who played till he was 40 and still made tackles look elegant. kante? he’s got that same stubborn streak.
Been here longer than some have followed.

You ever seen a man recover a ball 50 yards from his own goal and still have the wind left to spray a 40-yard diagonal to a marauding full-back? That’s Kante. The bloke’s got more engine than a Scuderia pit crew, and Mourinho—yes, *that* Mourinho—built a double Champions League-winning Chelsea around him while the rest of the world thought he was just another French guy called N’Golo. So if the board’s too chicken to lock him down because they’re worried about a “birthday,” they might as well frame our midfield and hang it above the director’s box now. Fire hydrant legs, kid gloves in the challenge—what else do you want, a signed blood oath from the man himself? 🔥💸

Still with all this Kante chatter, where’s the *business plan*? Yeah, he’s a legend, but six months into the season you can’t just wave a white flag and pray he stays upright. What’s the backup if his calf decides it’s done—do we sign another 33-year-old for sentimental reasons? I remember 2019 when we gambled on that Portuguese midfielder with the hamstring of glass—three weeks in and he was watching Netflix from the physio’s couch. At least Kante’s got fight, sure, but someone’s knees don’t know gratitude.

Kante's knees?! mate my granddad’s got less rust than that man’s ankles 😂😂 he ran our engine flat in 2021 and still had energy to kick me up the arse at training grounds till i had blisters! remember him bending over to tie his boot at Chelsea and some lad just casually jogging past and Kante just SPOTTED it, chased him down and won the ball back like it was fresh legs 💀 nah nah, our midfield under Costa pere & fils would be like a scuderia pitstop crew—every mistake recycled into another 30-yard rocket by Diego waiting to tap it home while Kante’s already back protecting the back four ah well, nowt to do

Tell me these fans haven’t lost the run of themselves, swallowing entire pages of TransferDeadlineDay fiction like it’s actual TakeawayMenusGoneMad. Yeah, Kante’s a warrior—on the pitch, at the gym, probably in his sleep—but let’s not kid ourselves he’s about to turn into a midfield unicorn we rent until the board discovers the phrase "long-term liability." Call me what you want, but I still remember watching that Chelsea side in 2017 where Kanté ended games with his tongue lolling out like a retired greyhound. The man’s heart is bigger than the Emirates pitch, yet even hearts run on treads, and treads wear down—facts are facts, no matter how much granddad-in-his-armchair wants to fight the data. Six months into Serie A and suddenly every opponent’s playing five-a-side chess with him as the only rook who can still move faster than their centre-back’s Wikipedia page. You pair him with a “kid” like Romagnoli or Barella? Sweet mercy, what’s next—pair Messi with a Sunday league lad and hope the magic rubs off? Backup plan? Oh, I’m sure there’s a “plan” written on the back of a napkin with sriracha stains. But six months into the season when Kante’s doing his famous 30-yard sprints while our striker lines up another miss because the ref missed a clear offside… ah well, then we’re all smiling at “sentimental reasons” while the transfer budget gets set on fire like an unwanted Christmas pudding.
Numbers > vibes.

ever heard of giovanni van bronckhorst at ranger’s? played till he was 37, knee cartilage held together by willpower and a weekly application of his wife’s special curry, and still dropped 10k passes a season while sitting in traffic. terraces got him chalking his boots off like he’s the only one who’s ever felt the weight of a strip after rain. that man’s “retired greyhound” act? it was just him learning to live with his knees singing the blues every morning. kanté might creak, but he’s not some delicate bloom that folds at the first rain shower—he’s got the same stubborn streak as bronckhorst, who once played a full derby in torrential downpours while the physio begged him to stop and his own brother started collecting bets on when he’d collapse.
Seen it all, lads.

remember when we all got wet for guti back in the day? some rumour had us swapping half our youth squad for a man who hadn't touched a ball in months, just so he could sit in milan's midfield and look dignified while drinking espresso on the subs bench. the papers wrote the same thing then too—"time will tell" they said, as if time's some mystical bartender mixing potions instead of just a bloke with a calendar. and what happened? a nice warm seat in la liga teaching kids how to look bored with style while our midfield got carved up like a christmas turkey. kante? yeah, he'll be grand for six months, then suddenly every tackle sounds like a cricket umpire shouting "how's that?" and his calf's whispering "mate, i'm done" between the games. i'm not saying no—i'm just remembering that 2015 january window where we were this close to signing a 34-year-old liverpool reject who spent more time in the physio's than in training because his hamstring "played hard to get". turns out hamstrings don't get transferred, they just get papped in magazines after a few weeks and forgotten. so let the board try, by all means—just keep the napkins away from the contract pen.
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱
