Yan in the cage with a lightweight whirlwind? Damn, that’d have me selling my kidney on the black market. Word is… maybe we rope in Makhachev before he dismantles half the division. 😏
Show me your ROI first 😏

You really think the Dagestani’s about to hand Yan a participation trophy? Makhachev’s busy dismantling belts, not handing them out—where’s the receipts on this “next lightweight” whisper?

Mate, why even *ask* when we all KNOW Petr Yan would go BEAST MODE on some lightweight trying to play footsie with him? 😤 That cat’s got CHEMISTRY in the cage—Makhachev walking in? That’s not just a fight, that’s WAR 🔥 Picture it: two grinding, clutching, “death before gassing” monsters locked in the most TECHNICAL war since Ice Age... Yan’s striking, Makh makes him miss, both are ready to SELL SOULS for 3 mins! Our lad steps in with that fire—suddenly every lightweight’s quaking like leaf in storm! We NEED that energy in the division… or we riot!

Pardon me if I spoil the dream a second, but let’s stick our boots on the ground for two ticks. Petr Yan is under his sixth contract year with UFC; he’s already signed till the end of 2024 and, from Dana’s latest public mouthing, the extension talks are progressing. That alone means his next fight is penciled against Sean O’Malley in November unless someone blinks—so the lightweight slot beside Islam isn’t even on the card yet. Islam Makhachev’s own train leaves the station this autumn too; he’s locked on UFC 308 in Australia against someone like Arman Tsarukyan, not some free-agent swap-shop. And let’s be blunt: UFC doesn’t move champions around like Lego bricks. The belts follow their holders until they run dry or decide to climb up themselves. I could be wrong, but if you’re hunting for Yan versus Makhachev inside a cage, it feels more like a two-fight bridge rather than a cross-promotional blockbuster. Makhachev defends his strap, finishes strong, then slows the belt roll to middleweight—that’s the map he drew when he took onivolumetric contract. So unless the UFC suddenly redraws every roadmap on short notice, Yan’s next lightweight co-star will still be chasing that elusive belt, not swapping places with Dagestan’s top dog.

Wait a minute—did someone just whisper "two-fight bridge" like Makhachev’s some kind of hedge-fund manager? Bro, we’re talking about two animals in the cage, not a retirement portfolio. The moment Islam steps in, the division forgets its own name—let alone Yan’s contract expiration. Dana’s latest “progression” talk? That’s the same script they ran with Volkanovski back in 2022; six months later he’s still sparring featherweights while Alexander finishes the season in Dubai. And you’re listing Tsarukyan on Makhachev’s card like it’s some heavyweight snoozefest. Arman’s fast, sure, but he’s no busy signal for Dagestan’s freight train. I could be wrong, but if Islam wanted a cosy challenger he’d have flown back to Dagestan by now. Yan doesn’t need a belt to light the cage—he’s the human version of a Molotov at 105 dB. Next lightweight to step up better pack a will.

someone's been hitting the math textbooks a bit too hard on their break from counting pence in the change jar... look mate, i've watched that Dagestani barge through every last guardrail in his division like it was made of wet cardboard — but you're writing him like some slow-moving mountain when even his own coach calls him a "human heat-seeking missile." remember the shitshow in abu dhabi when he scrapped with giga for 25 minutes? he wasn't wheeling and dealing with retirement plans, he was eating elbows and popping them back like they were popcorn. that man doesn't fight for belt extensions or retirement portfolios, he fights for souls to take home in a paper bag. and if you're suggesting two fights is the bridge you need to walk before they share a cage, you might as well be telling us petrol prices are cheaper than crisps next tuesday. what i'm saying is this: makhachev steps in, the weight class starts vibrating like a power-line in a storm. no long-term contracts, no UFC roadmaps, just two boys who treat sweating as a personal insult and grinders as a warm-up drill. if dana wants to sit there counting money instead of stacking cards, that's his problem. but don't for one second fool yourself — the moment those two lock eyes across the cage, the division's only memory will be which one landed the cleaner elbow. and if you still think this is about belts and paperwork, you've been reading the wrong fight weeklies altogether.
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱

@Ultra88 mate you’re talkin to the room like we’re all still holding popcorn 🍿 from the last time Tsarukyan turned a guardrail into confetti—but nah, Islam’s not some slowpoke heffalump flippin through fight cards like a supermarket tabloid. The man hits 90% power off 30% cardio and his head’s wired so tight it’d make a Swiss watch look like a broken sundial. Remember when he left Oliveira lookin like a crash-test dummy mid-round? Whole division’s still picking bits of ceiling out their hair. Yan’s got the swagger of a man who’s never known what a fade feels like, but Makhachev? He’s the reason “finite” exists in fight timelines. So yeah, fine, let ‘em throw elbows until the ref asks what sport they’re even playin—curtain call’s gonna be a mercy killing.

You ever seen the two of ‘em in the same building before a fight week? Petr just strolling into the press room with that little smirk like he’s already won, and Islam? Dude’s in full body armour *before* the weigh-ins just to save energy for when the real work starts. Two different species sharing the same cage—like watching a samurai walk into a boxing gym. Now *that’s* a lightweight war waiting to happen.

That smirk though. Petr walks into any presser like he already signed the contract in invisible ink and the other guy’s just warming the bench. And Makhachev? Dude treats weigh-ins like a warm-up jog—full gear on because he’s already five rounds deep mentally. Two completely different animals sharing one cage… I remember seeing them side-by-side at the UFC Performance Institute last winter. Petr signing autographs, all charm and teeth; Islam half-asleep in a corner with headphones on like the room’s too loud for his heartbeat. Next day they ran sprints together on the track—same pace, same silent focus. Only difference is Petr’s face when he finished: grinning at the stopwatch. Islam’s? Just reset it and said “again.”
Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

yeah but remember that time they penciled in Usman Nurmagomedov vs dan hooker in 2021 and half the forum started knitting scarves for the cage door? Dana whispered something about 'logistics' like we were ordering a pizza that got rerouted to the wrong suburb, then suddenly the fight's vapor—hooker ends up pounding the canvas in Abu Dhabi instead. we had the hoodies printed, the chants ready, even the kid who does the vuvuzelas outside the venue brought his horn. then boom, gone like morning fog off lake ontario. next thing we knew it was Makhachev vs m Oliveira in the co-main and all of us were left holding empty cans of energy drink and a powerpoint presentation titled "Why The Division Needs A Yan Trilogy."
Petr Yan fighter
Been here longer than some have followed.

@Nick_Ultra nah mate you’re missin the whole point! Petr’s smirk? That’s not arrogance, that’s confidence from years of batterin opponents while they’re still readin the rules🔥 And Makhachev? Full gear at weigh-ins? Absolute legend move, shows he’s been fightin since before the cage was invented! These two don’t just step in—they STORM, our lot never make it easy!
