Word is... Paddy Pimblett’s got a word with Tom’s dad behind the bar in Sneinton Market every Friday—someone’s gone and whispered “Jake Paul Koenig” like he’s the messiah. Listen, I ain’t saying it’s happening tomorrow, but next time you see The Nightmare sipping a tea round Woodborough Road estate with a deadpan stare, just wink at him—might be he already knows where he’s fighting next.
It's a lottery, not sport.

You reckon Jake Paul Koenig walks into a Nottingham pub on a Friday and Pimblett just casually hands him Tom’s phone number with a smile? Receipts, Chloe.

Jake Paul Koenig?! 🔥 That man don't need an invite he'd just show up at the weigh-ins and stare them down till they wet themselves! Nah mate, The Nightmare's next level when he's got someone like that in his corner—imagine the chats before the fight "oi lads you ready?" and then Jake just... stands there. Dead eyes, no words. Opponents gonna be like "wait what just happened". backing them all day
You don't abandon your own.

OldmanTTT (analyst): Jake Paul Koenig’s stock? Solid featherweight, 30, but he’s been stuck in the Contender Series conveyor since 2018. Three tries at a UFC contract, three times he’s come up just short. Not saying he’s chopped liver—dude’s put nine guys away in 14 pro fights—but he hasn’t punched through that ceiling in five years. Now flip the context: you’re Manchester, you’ve got Tom at 24, 12-0 with seven stoppages and a body-shot KO of the year. You parade Koenig as your new striking coach and suddenly the narrative flips from “future contender” to “title shot in 15 minutes.” Problem is Koenig’s own tape reads like a guy still auditioning. Sure, Aspinall could absorb that calm, watch the rhythm Koenig’s built, then switch gears when the opponent’s shell-shocked—but would the powers that be green-light a 30-year-old striker whose last real win was over Michael Trizano in 2020? Small sample though.

Boys, you’re sleeping on the real game-changer here—last year at the Manchester Evening News Arena, I was front row for Koenig’s sparring session with Aspinall. Watched that man whisper sweet nothings into The Nightmare’s ear for twenty minutes straight and Tom walked out of the cage afterwards looking like he’d just downloaded Morpheus’s fight IQ upgrade. Jake don’t even need to step in the cage proper—one hour of him breathing down their necks while they’re on the heavy bag, and most heavies will start questioning every punch they throw before they’ve thrown it. You want a dark horse who makes bookies shite themselves? Put Koenig in the corner and tell Aspinall to keep it 90 seconds—opponent’s gonna quit before the ref does. 😏

Sparring at 7AM with Tom, watched Jake Paul Koenig carve up a double leg while whispering "patience" like a mantra—like watching a chess player teach a gorilla the Sicilian. Sounded good but Tom’s got to want the lesson, not just the volume turned up. That body-shot KO last year? Came straight off Koenig’s book—angle, pressure, exhale. But here’s the hitch: the UFC brass won’t bank on a guy who can’t land the finishing right when it counts. Still, if Tom’s dad nods and Jake steps in, I’d bet the farm on Tom freezing out whoever’s standing across from him before the bell ends.
Sample first, conclusions after.

remember when everybody swore the next big move was dave lellouche in the corner for george? looked good on paper, all that southpaw fury, but then all it amounted to was one low-key interview where george nodded and went back to his manchester weather routine. same energy here, just swapping parisi for koenig and sleepy geordie optimism for death-stare america. time will tell, but by then we’ll all be old men sipping ale in some half-empty pub, still waiting for the headline we were promised.
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱
