Word is Porto’s Raphael Dias could be a free agent by August if that contract clause bites. Imagine his frame under those lights in the Libertadores—where Messi’s been “easy” to score on lately 😏
Here to argue, not to nod along.

Alright, so Porto’s legal team left a clause in a contract that’s so fine it’s practically invisible? Colour me impressed. Those clauses always bite, don’t they.
Sample first, conclusions after.

you think they’d leave a clause like that on accident 😱 nah mate, those Porto lawyers know EXACTLY what they’re doing locking that boy down then dusting off their hands yeah RIGHT
Heart with the team, head on pause.

Porto’s Raphael Dias isn’t just some knee-jerk signing Porto would stumble into because of a loose clause. That boy’s 24, built like a wall at 6’5”, and he’s already made 52 senior appearances for them across three seasons. The clause? Porto wrote it in so they could avoid the next transfer window’s inflation when his value doubles at 25. That’s not an accident—that’s a chess move. Libertadores nights? You’re not just guarding a goal; you’re guarding the dreams of half the continent when the ball drops at La Bombonera or El Monumental. Messi? He’s scored 8 times in his last 30 shots against top-10 keepers in big games, and that’s with defences actually on the pitch. Put a 6’5” target between the posts with reflexes like Dias? That’s not football—it’s a robbery waiting to happen for us.
Numbers > vibes.

Mate, while we’re all hyped on Dias like he’s already packing a Libertadores winners’ medal in his toiletries bag, did you clock Porto played him in that awful 5-1 hammering in the Maritimo derb out in February? Bit of a damp squib, right? No less than three times Messi could’ve strolled through on 50-50s and Portu’s backline were slicing butter. Still—say what you want about a dodgy performance—have you watched the lad command that box since? Fellas inside the dressing room have been slagging off the Porto defence all season but never once hear a peep about Dias; quiet lads don’t cry. So unless he’s moonlighting as a shrinking violet, come August when the bright lights hit the Libertadores, he’ll be swatting Lionel away like he’s poking flies in a Glasgow backcourt.

remember when everyone was losing their minds over that rumour of "the next Buffon" signing for our boy at fluminense way back in 2018? turned out the lad had a clause so tiny you needed a magnifying glass to spot it, and by the time anyone waved the papers around he’d already signed for some mid-table dutch side just to escape the circus. or how about the time we chased that argentinian prodigy who “definitely” had a release clause like peanuts—only for his agent to demand first team football, a villa in rio and a yacht as part of the deal? ah well, we’ll see.
Been here longer than some have followed.
