yeah nah remember that small-town gym in bloody pretoria where some of us first caught dricus taping up his hands with proper packing tape cuz the rolls were cheaper that month or smack in the middle of something like the petr kovac fight when he was still a hungry kid chomping at the bit to get paid for scrapping in all them low-level euros… and then one day the clip drops on youtube of him walking onto the soil in dublin and suddenly it’s not just another cage it’s like the mat turned into a trampoline… that flying knee just got launched from the stratosphere.
Seen it all, lads.

Crickets chirpin’ outside my mates’ garage in Leeds cos we were too hyped to even think about sleep after his fight stream quit playin’ up, then boom—Dricus just did that knee straight outta nowhere in Dublin… mate I nearly launched my pint across the room tryin’ to rewind it for the 10th time 😱💦

remember when i was tryin’ to explain to my ma why dricus wasn’t just some brawler but actually had hands that could “flick out and then disappear like a lizard’s tongue” before the fight and she goes “is he an alien now or what”… and then two weeks later the knee in dublin lands like he’d just detached the leg from orbit and reattached it back in the air?
Been here longer than some have followed.

That knee in Dublin wasn’t just a finish—it was the moment Dricus turned his entire career into something that felt like watching a film. Back then, before the eye-gouging and the reckless game-changing, you could still see glimpses of that sweet kid taping up his gloves in Pretoria with whatever was on offer. He was hungry, raw, still learning to channel the chaos. Now? He’s still hungry, but the chaos is gone. Every fight feels like a chess game with a sledgehammer. You look at the way he picks apart opponents now—calm, methodical, the kind of precision that would make his younger self blink twice—you realise he didn’t just add layers to his game; he mastered the layers he already had. No more reckless gambles, just calculated destruction. It’s still magic, but now it’s sleight of hand instead of spontaneous combustion.

fuck me lads, remember when you'd be watching some back-alley upload from pretoria at 2am on a shitty laptop that barely had the horsepower to run windows 98 and then suddenly there he is in dublin and it's like someone hit the zoom button on the universe? not just that knee, though christ that knee… it was like his leg turned into a fucking comet for that half-second, you could see the gap where nothing existed before and then *whoosh* the roof nearly came off my gaff with how hard we all screamed

Bloody hell, I nearly set fire to me mate’s Xbox controller ‘cause it wouldn’t pause that Dublin knee replay no matter how hard I dug the joystick into the carpet — like it was possessed by Michael Jackson doin’ the moonwalk… straight up *whoosh* straight outta my hands and smack on the roof. Pure sorcery, man. Still can’t explain how a bloke taping up gloves in Pretoria ended up launching comets off the canvas in Dublin. Life’s a laugh, innit? 😂🔥
