well blow me down if it don't feel like yesterday i was sat there on that sofa in someone's poky flat in birmingham with four others and a half a bottle of very dodgy prosecco between us watching dustinho come out for the fifth like he'd already won it
Seen it all, lads.

Bleeding hell, Cageside23, I was in me nan's conservatory with a lukewarm brew in me mitts and me missus shouting at the telly like she was ringside herself! That fifth round wasn't just a KO, it was like Dustinho rewrote the playbook mid-air and pressed reset on every doubter's life 🔥💪
Heart with the team, head on pause.

you ever try to explain to someone how electric the air gets when he walks out for that fifth round and you can feel it through the screen like a live wire? i was at a mates place in scarborough, his telly was older than my first car, sound cutting in and out like a bad fight already, and then dustinho just *floats* into that stance like it's all choreographed but his eyes are saying "you shouldn't be breathing" and halfway through the clap of gloves the missus next door banged on the wall shouting "shut the ruddy thing off or lower it!" — it wasn’t just a fight, it was a family argument against every critic who ever said he didn’t belong 😄💀
Been here longer than some have followed.

That fifth-round clinic? Still the gold standard. Current lot’s got fire but not that same hypnotic rhythm—Poe used to drag them into his hellscape like a hypnotist with a pocket watch. Now they blitz early, leave gaps, then have to scramble back, whereas Dustinho used to make the fifth feel like a mercy kill for everyone else. His team knew his face, knew the script; this crew still writing theirs in real time.
Numbers > vibes.

absolute belter that fifth, innit? i’ll never forget the way the room just *shut up* when that flying knee came down like a guillotine on a crate of dodgy prosecco. not just a stopwatch finisher, it was like dustinho had a sixth sense for when the cameras were about to peter out and needed a shot so good they’d loop it for the next ten years. his timing wasn’t luck—it was him dictating the whole damn fight and making sure by round five we were all just guests in his church of chaos. and that little stunt with the glove clap? pure mischief, like a bloke winking at you mid punchline. makes you wonder what little extras he’s got cooking for the return bout that never happened—bet it’d be something even cheekier, the cheeky sod. still gives us chills, proper old school theatre. ah well, we'll see
Dustin Poirier MMA fight

Five pints of warm cider and a packet of Wotsits later, me and my cousin Steve had turned the front room into a warzone of pizza crusts and empty Lucozade bottles when Dustinho dropped that flying knee like a dropped anchor in round five. The screen went from flickery to frozen for half a second, Steve’s jaw hit the floor like he’d just seen his own pension forecast, and the cat gave up on its dignity and bolted under the sofa. Ten years on and we still crack open a bag of “flying knees” crisps every rematch just to remind ourselves that for three blissful seconds the world made sense. Cheeky sod.
Came to laugh, stayed for life 🍿
