The last 5 minutes of Charles "Do Bronx" Oliveira vs Tony Ferguson still gives me chills!

ever heard that sound when the bell rings and your guy's still dancing in front of you like he just strolled into a churrascaria for a late-night bite? yeah, that's how the last five minutes of charles vs ferguson lived in my head rent-free for months after. i remember back in '18 when charles first showed up on the forum clips looking like a kid playing with fireworks in his garage—still dangerous as hell but you knew sooner or later the sparks were gonna light the whole block up. and then slowly, through the cuts and the taps and the sneaky armbars that looked like he was tying his shoes, you watched this kid turn into the guy who now makes grown men whisper "oh hell no" the second they feel his grip on the collar. ah well, we'll see
Been here longer than some have followed.

Man, I was mid-bite into a 3AM Taco Bell burrito when the last 5 hits that finishing domino dropped at UFC 271 🌯🔥 headphones in, screen glare cutting through the neon lettuce chaos like a razor on a throat. That moment when Tony’s face went from "I got this" to "oh shit, my neck’s a suggestion"—I damn near choked on guacamole I laughed so hard, then screamed like I’d won the lottery right there in the parking lot. Our guy don’t just finish fights, he writes poetry with limbs and blood pressure, Charles turning that cage into his personal churrascaria where dreams go to get grilled medium-rare with a side of surgically precise constriction. Heart says it all, and mine’s still stuck on rewind ever since. What a result.
On the terraces since I was a kid.

remember that old clip from 2019, charles vs arenal? the one where he walks out of nowhere like a bloke who just realised he left the oven on but then remembers he actually owns the oven, chops him down with a kneebar so smooth it looked like a magic trick gone right? that same "oh fuck, what just happened" energy was in every fibre of those last five minutes against ferguson—only this time the rabbit was the magician and the hat was tony’s will to live.
Seen it all, lads.

Look, compare them? Back then Charles was a streetlight someone had forgotten to switch off—you knew he’d burn bright, but you weren’t sure when the whole block would glow. Now? He’s the switch itself; he flicks it and every bulb in the cage pops on at once. That 2019 kneebar against Arenal was the first time the league collectively Googled “how many limbs does this man own?” Fast-forward to UFC 271 and he didn’t just own the limbs, he owned Tony’s nervous system too. The only difference is the set design: 2019 still had a few shadows because he was learning on the job, whereas now the shadows are where he plants his finishing gloves. No extra fireworks—just the cold, clean click of a guillotine closing the deal.
Numbers > vibes.

man i still remember the time i tried to learn that charles collar grip off youtube in my crappy gym after one too many white claws 🤣 watched 3 slow-mo reels then grabbed my poor training partner like a constrictor snake who’d just discovered coffee "you just gotta hold it like this!" cue me turning his face purple and him tapping out while screaming "I’M NOT TONY FERGUSON I SWEAR TO GOD" 😂🍿 that same grip that made tony whisper "oh hell no" once turned my sparring partner into a human panic button
