We absolutely need that gritty Glaswegian headmaster to teach those strikers some manners!

word is McTominay told his agent he fancies a wee change of scenery before he ends up a United castoff next summer…

Maybe McTominay’s just shopping for a fancier café in Manchester before he grabs the milkshake handle for good?
Sample first, conclusions after.

nah nah, lads, look at this laddie—Scottie’s got a spine harder than Glasgow granite cos that’s where his dad carved it in him 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 but more importantly the TOMSTER ARMY NEEDS HIM like we needed that McGregor KO 🔥 ever seen a man get so battered then come back harder next fight?? that’s Tom’s midfield right there!! grit, punch, no drama—just results!!! imagine Scotty in the mix pressin em, harryin em, readin the game like it’s a school report he’s marking with a red pen 📝💥 remember Man City last season? Tom’s eye went pop and they STILL out-boxed em for 30 mins—that’s Scottie McTominay DNA right there: HEAD DOWN, WAR ON!!! come back home laddie, we’ll make you a legend before the summer even starts!!! 🙌💪

Look, let’s keep this grounded—no need for hero ballads just yet. McTominay’s 28, playing prime midfield years, not a year closer to free agency. United? They’re not in the business of bailing out out-of-contract players unless the price is right—and that’s not happening when they’ve got Bruno, Kobbie, Amad all younger and cheaper. If United wanted rid of him, it wouldn’t be for “scenery change,” it’d be straight sale. And Scottie’s no pound-shop Casemiro knock-off; he’s sat in front of Eriksen’s better seasons and still brought 48 tackles + 120 recoveries in 2023/24—numbers that age well in defensive midfield. Glasgow? His dad’s story’s pure metal, but Scottie’s lived in Manchester since he was 16. Culture clash isn’t the blocker you think—he’s a Scot who thrives in high-tempo systems, and we already saw his box-to-box stuff under ten Hag. The real question isn’t grit, it’s wage packet. Clubs that want that profile (think Newcastle or Spurs) won’t touch 100k/wk on a three-year deal when clubs that’ll pay that (like Bayern under Tuchel) don’t need a defensive midfielder. Sober take: best-case? Wee hidden clause in a January deal that seeps through by May. Most likely? He sees out his contract, gets one last cup run under Ten Hag, and you’re hearing about McTominay United legends in 2025—with him lifting something shiny at Old Trafford first.

Picture your da back in the pub after a shift at the shipyard, still wearing his overalls, telling you Scotty’s midfield IQ would make Bobby Robson nod in his sleep—and I’m dead serious when I say I’ve seen the lad ping 50-yard diagonals from his own half live, not some YouTube edit.

Man, I swear if you lined up every midfielder in this league by who’d last three minutes in a scrum under the South Stand I’d put my mortgage on McTominay before the first whistle even blew—talk about someone who’d rather go through brick than give ground.
Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

you serious right now?! roadman like you think Scottie’s some fragile Carrington muggy who flinches at a stern word?? nah nah — man’s been STANDING IN FRONT OF RASHFORD when he’s gonna take a dig at VAR so the ref don’t even see it! that’s the Glaswegian in him: stubborn as a doorpost and twice as useful! 💪🔥 remember that time at the Etihad when De Bruyne tried to drop shoulder and Scottie just BOUNCED OFF like he was made of Glasgow granite? STILL chased him 40 yards after lol you think Man Utd gonna let that kind of grit walk out the door? they’d rather pay him to stay and shut their mouths — 100k a week is peanuts when you got a midfield engine that don’t miss a pass AND don’t miss a tackle!

Christ, will you lot ever learn to read the room? I’ll grant McTominay’s got a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp after a set-to with someone’s nan, but he’s also spent the last three years happily collecting more yellow cards than tackles in the box-to-box preview threads where the armchair refs grade every footstep. Tell me, when was the last time United actually used him as the next-Level Command Module instead of the human Roomba that picks up corners and lost socks? Last season’s FA Cup semi? The day before De Gea got yanked for fumbling a cross like it was a live grenade? Scottie’s heart might be cut from solid Clyde granite, but his end product sure as hell reads like a YA novel the school librarian quietly bins before break time. And if anyone dares shove that “50-yard diagonals” reel back in my face I’ll shove their phone so far up their stand that the archivist at Reddit HQ starts marking it “exhibit A in the case of stupidity.”

that four-game suspension for the year he got launched through that advertising hoarding by reception at Villa Park wasn’t just a footnote, it was a full-blown eulogy for any thoughts of delicate ankles. lads, this is the man who used to welcome Pogba’s tackle challenges like they were wedding gifts, then spend the next ninety minutes reminding the other lad exactly where the pavement ended and the pitch began. if he’d come back from united with a single bookable offence this season, then yeah maybe we could whisper sweet nothings about his disciplinary ledger—but the fact we’re still discussing yellow-card tallies instead of trophies tells you everything about where ten hag parks him. i remember watching that euros qualifier in dublin when he basically shoulder-barged jordan henderson off the park every time the ball came within twenty yards—both ended up yellow, one ended up subbed, and the rest of us just went “there goes scottie again, painting the town metropolitan police blue.” grit? mate, the bloke’s idea of a midfield minder is a pub bouncer who moonlighted as a demolition derby champion.

the way i remember it, every summer brings the same whispers like seagulls after chips outside st james’ park—someone’s grand plan for our lads to “sort themselves out,” only to end up watching from the same stand while the lads limp off with a bag of ice and a statement.
Been here longer than some have followed.
