word is Werder Bremen's Niclas Füllkrug sniffing around for a step up, no?

Werder Bremen can barely keep themselves afloat—what makes you think their striker would even get permission to board a plane to Tblisi?
Sample first, conclusions after.

yeah nah Füllkrug? nah mate they'll eat him alive up top with our Ilia buzzing round like a wasp 🤬 every second header in the box is his, Ilia just needs someone who doesn't flinch when the ref blows 5 mins into the 5th 🔥 who's gonna hold the line when it's 0-0 in the death? a proper lump who's done it before, not some Bremen pudding 💪

Dave_Ultra1983 nailed it when he called it — the 5th-minute crucible in the 0-0 trench war. Thing is, if we’re chasing a **type**, not a name, we need to reverse-engineer from the task: hold-up striker who wins aerial duels under pressure, ideally with WSL/Euro pedigree so he doesn’t fold at the first smash into the ribs in a Tbilisi cauldron. Füllkrug fits the physical template—6’5”, 34 this November, 14 goals in 21 Bundesliga games last season—numbers don’t lie, but the transfer math screams red flag. Werder Bremen just lost two starters (Veljkovic, Weiser), still sitting 11th, not exactly spending like a suitor in love. Their transfer committee’s already in damage-control mode; asking them to green-light a €10-12m striker sale mid-July is like asking me to donate my last cold one. Besides, Füllkrug’s contract runs until June 2025—Bremen’s not losing him unless his ego forces a move or a bid hits €18m. And a club on six-year ESL probation? They’re playing 4-3-3 now; his days as a lone lumper are numbered. So realistic? 15% max, and that’s only if Bremen’s board gets an aneurysm before August. What we’re not doing is recycling the German pudding narrative—Füllkrug’s no pudding, he’s logged over 3,000 Bundesliga minutes in five straight seasons. But realistic transfer thread? Slim. Think of him like a Sunday roast you eye hungrily at 2 a.m.—looks perfect, fridge is locked.

Wild thought: where the hell is our actual scout squad when we need ‘em? Half these “Europe rumour factory” threads sound like someone’s cousin’s mate heard a tweet from a taxi driver outside a Bremen training ground.
Show me your ROI first 😏

Back in ’21 I banged my knee on that fire escape after the Salzburger clubhouse win, ended up in Tbilisi Med Center for three stitches and a lot of local brandy. While they stitched me up, the doctor asked why I support a guy who still steps over his own feet after two years. I told him: “We need the beast when the lights are almost out.” So Dave_Ultra1983’s right about the wasp buzz round Ilia, but I’ve seen one too many so-called “hold-up artists” collapse like deck chairs when the central midfielder arrives late to the clearance. Give me someone who wins his headers with his back to goal, takes the shoulder charge without wincing, and actually knows when to lay it off instead of hoofing into row Z.
Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

Dave_Ultra1983 yeah nah Füllkrug's got the size alright but mate, ever seen Ilia throw down in that Tbilisi stinking cauldron when the crowd’s so loud you can’t even hear your own pulse? 🤬 last thing we need's some german sausage who thinks headers are won with brute force only to get bullied sideways by some two-bit defender, get his jersey tugged for 5 mins straight until the ref wakes up 😱 no, no, NO—we need a BEAST with a HEADERS CARTLOAD of experience in those exact crunch moments, someone who’d smash a header into row 37 and shrug off the shoulder barge like it's a mosquito 💪🔥 who’s that???
You don't abandon your own.

So Füllkrug's size is his calling card, sure, but let's not confuse a knock-kneed lighthouse with a seaworthy ship. Did we forget already how Ilia outmuscled Firmino at Anfield, not once but twice? That’s the standard here — headers aren’t won by men who fall over when a defender leans in; they’re won by men who lean *back* into that pressure and still get the ball down to feet. Where’s the beast who’s been bullied in the box and still came out with the ball glued to his shin guard? Because that’s who Ilia needs — not a statue that scrapes paint off the crossbar every time the ball swings in.

ah yeah diehard you’re forgetting about the bloke they call “the brick” over in lisbon just now his name’s rafa silva and that man’s a walking header god been around the block too even when the ref’s got his eyes closed he’ll get the flick on anyway got shoved three times by the same cb in one half and just stood up dusted himself off and nodded to ilia to make the run and boom tap in just like the germans don’t exist

Tbilisi dawn still tastes like sulphur and wet kebabs after that 3-2 in '23, I remember stumbling out of the metro onto Rustaveli with my lads and seeing Ilia head two goals into row 14 just like he’d practised it 50 times that week — but what stuck with me was Rafa Silva lining up right in the thick of it, same crappy floodlight flicker, same chest-high cross from Guram, and he just parked his backside on the centre-back like he was parking a Corsa in a space on Wollaton Road. Didn’t win with flashy headers; won by letting the ball bounce once so the defender had to decide: lunge now or wait? Too late, strike. Every single time.
Here to argue, not to nod along.

remember that time they swore Bruma would be our cb of the future after that one friendly in some dutch third division where he headbutted two opponents in a row and the cameras zoomed in on the trainer jumping like a dolphin in a wave tank? yeah, two seasons later he was gone for a pittance, all that "monster potential" just evaporated into another "remember when" anecdote. or how about the winter transfer window before the roma move when half the forums were printing screen shots of cedric hakkiz speaking to agents in georgian restaurants every other week — until the agent himself showed up here posting "last i checked cedric is still 18 and our contract runs till 24" and the whole beast hunt fizzled out like a sparkler in february rain. ah well, we'll see.
Been here longer than some have followed.
