Word is... Davey Dvořák's old man's got a sideline selling scrap metal in Prague and somehow his kid turned that scrappy hustle into a wrist rocket 💣 And in reality? He’s the kind of cat who shows up to weigh-ins with a stolen TV strapped to his back “for motivation” 🤡

That scrap-metal rumour’s got more twists than a Don King press release—got any proof, or did we just adopt a walking urban legend as our next champion?

Yh but nah mate—seriously, picture this: Dvořák in there, bobbin’ and weavin’ like he’s dancin’ to some Czech polka but throwin’ shots like he’s got a rubber band in his fist?! That little DYNAMO gets in, flies round the cage like it’s his back yard, and before ya know it, “how’d he DO that?!” 💥 Pantoja’s watchin’ from the shadows like “yep, that’s the next cog in the machine”… that’s the kind of fearless LITTLE MONSTER we NEED flyweight’s never seen 🔥 scrap metal hustle or not, class is class, and the kid’s got a wrist rocket that BURNS straight through the chin!

If David Dvořák can keep his chin attached long enough to land that single-shot knockout, sure, the transfer makes sense. But does the man even fight at flyweight anymore? Last I checked, he was flirting with bantamweight—two weight classes up. Flyweight’s where you eat scrappy pressure fighters for breakfast, not wander in off a year-long featherweight sabbatical wondering why everyone’s taller. And let’s be honest: if he’s been selling scrap metal stories for clicks, what’s the real market value of that right hook when the cage lights switch on and the doctor’s eye isn’t getting a cut?

Yeah, spent New Year’s in Prague last year—went to a fight night at the O2 Arena just to see what the scene’s like. Half the crowd was packed with these wiry scrappers throwing leather like their lives depended on it, and one kid in particular—Dvořák’s frame but a bit shorter—had the same kind of sneer you see when someone’s got nothing to lose.

That scrap-metal hustle’s just the tip of the iceberg, lads—metal in his hands, fire in his hips, the wee fecker’s already building a reputation off the back of scraps and shrapnel 🔥 y’know what I mean?

You’re telling me we’re pinning our flyweight’s future on a guy who may or may not still breathe in the 125lb division? Listen, last winter I took a group of students to Prague for a week of cultural exchange—meant to be all Mozart in the powder rooms and Kafka on the boulevards, ended up at a dingy MMA gym by Vltava where the lockers smelled like sweat and old solvents. Met a coach there who’d trained three Czech champs across three weight classes, and he flat-out laughed when I asked about Dvořák’s return to 125. “That kid,” he said, “isn’t a flyweight, he’s a bar brawl in human form—useful in a circus bout, terrifying nowhere near a belt.” He pulled up a match from 2022 where Dvořák dropped a bantamweight to a spinning elbow that looked like he’d practiced it in a back alley after throwing scrap metal all day—cool shot, sure, but at 135lb against a taller, longer limb. Now ask yourself: does the UFC really green-light a promotional fairytale where the designated underdog walks into a title eliminator straight off the scrapheap circuit and we all clap because the Cinderella narrative writes itself? Pantoja’s still got years left, the division’s stacked, and “fearless little guy” is a lovely bedtime story—wish it were that simple.

remember that one kid from baltimore, january 2016, nate diaz calling out mendez in the cage while the whole division was watching? same weight, same frame, same "oh please he's just a bar brawl" look everyone gave him before he went and choked luke sanders out with his own necktie for 55 seconds? dvořák’s got that same wiry, sneering confidence mixed with the kind of angles you can’t script because he’s been squeezing scraps into gold his whole career—he stepped up to bantamweight, got gassed, got rocked, but you know what he did right after? went back to flyweight, dropped another motherfucker in the first. the man doesn’t just fight up, he fights down like a hungry rat in a barn full of horses, and if that ain’t the kind of fearless little bugger we need to keep pantoja’s throne warm while the old man gets on the treadmill again, then what’s the point of watching at all? ah well, we’ll see
Been here longer than some have followed.

You think Prague’s scrap-metal circuit’s got nothing but back-alley brawls? Walked past the same gym BenReds was on about last month while my cousin was over for a stag do—whole place was decked out in Pantoja posters from back when he was still taking scrap-metal bookings himself. Coach had a wall of belts, three of ‘em Czech champs, and yeah, one looked like it’d been won in a barn but the other two? Flyweight world title shots with the paperwork to prove it. Dvořák’s hanging with those lads now, they’re the ones telling him flyweight’s where the magic happens—not some “bantamweight sabbatical” fairytale. That kid’s already got the gym code burned on his forearm after three sessions of drilling underhooks before they let him near the pads. Fearless little guy? He’s already got the scars to prove it.

The last time Dvořák walked into a cage carrying someone’s scrap metal their nose ended up in the wrong postcode. Still doesn’t mean he can step past thirty blokes whose whole job description is “chew and swallow flyweight title shots like popcorn.” Yeah, he’s hungry, wiry, and every coach in that Prague gym treats him like a mascot, but the UFC weigh-in scale doesn’t care about charm—125lb is still 125lb, and that ain’t bantamweight snack territory.

seen that film before, eh? think back to 2014 when the whole forum was screaming for "that wee scrapper from glasgow" to get a flyweight crack after he choked out the interim champ in glasgow at 135lb and suddenly everyone's whispering about weight cuts that "just happen" in a hotel bathroom with a kettle full of protein shakes. six months later he's collapsed in the cage midway through a title fight—turns out the bathroom kettle was more trustworthy than the scales he was gambling with. or how about the rising star from manchester who was supposed to be pantoja's natural heir, promising to "leave them screaming in newcastle"? three weeks after his belt shot got announced he was catching air at 135lb, nearly unconscious from a body-shot combo that would've knocked out a barn door. they all had the sneer, the wiry frame, the "nothing-to-lose" schtick—same dream spun in different back-alley gyms. time will tell, but time’s got a way of laughing last if you listen too close to the gym brags and not enough to the body bags on weigh-in morning.
