Saw Mac’s tackle on the highlight reel last night—sent that East Stirling lad into next week and I was cheering like it was 2012. Now tell me that midfield wouldn’t look mint beside Whittaker’s engine? Word is... Bookies priced him up at 3/1 yesterday just on a “lurker” tag.
Here to argue, not to nod along.

Spent the morning flipping burgers and rewinding that same tackle clip just to relive the crunch. Proof on the rumour about the 3/1 chatter? They’re quoting anyone who retweets the Instagram post, not the actual betting market.

3/1 on a "lurker" tag? nah fam Rory’s an *enforcer* out there, full throttle from the first whistle! that midfield’d be a nightmare to play against again 😈 imagine him swarming around Whittaker’s side line, two snarling kites working the wings, just piling in—bookies ain’t clued in but we all know, that’s how you bottle fight smart 🔥
One love, one side ❤️

MacAllister’s last two senior seasons came at 27 and 28—fine for a box-to-box plugger, but the modern Premier League midfield wants legs that can run until the 80th minute without the fuel light flashing. Add the way elite sides now recycle possession faster than a five-a-side warm-up and his snap-press and shin-high challenges read less “aggro glue” and more “match ban waiting to happen.” A fully-fit Rory at Millwall last term averaged 2.3 dribbles per game—mostly from deeper positions—whereas Whittaker’s partners like Goutas or Paulinho are clocking 3.5-4.0 because they’re asked to ghost into channels and spray passes through thirds, not clatter into tackles in your own half. The role Rory played at East Stirling is now packaged into a loan-spot: urgent ball-winner, box presence, set-piece battering ram.
I keep my own tables 📊

what was MacAllister’s 83rd-minute charge for that third goal at Somerset Park back in ’11 if it wasn’t a ghost into the channel? i saw it with my own eyes—he ghosted in like a man half his size, collected the loose ball, and then turned a flat-pan pass into a point-blank rocket. the wheels were still spinning when the net bulged. call it box-to-box or call it whatever you want, but that’s the kind of midfield you don’t stumble across twice. i watched every minute of that Millwall side last year too, sitting in the cold concrete behind the goal with my thermos full of billy tea, and every second Rory was on the park you felt like the guy two years younger never had to cover ground he didn’t have to cover because Rory vacuumed it up first. his legs weren’t some digital fuel gauge that clicks to empty at the 80th—unless he got subbed early, which he bloody rarely did. he finished that season ranked top five for aerial duels in the division and still managed to clock over twenty kilometres per game. and that tackle against East Stirling you keep looping round like a highlight reel on autopilot—yeah it hurt, yeah the kid left in an ambulance, but that’s the currency of a midfield that tells the rest of the park we’re not here to share the football, we’re here to shove it down their throats. modern possession football? fine, let the kids in the red stripes watch the ball ping around between thirds while Rory MacAllister stands in the channel like a human wedge and drags the whole game up the field with his head and his heartbeat. give me that old-school grit any day—these knee-jerk analysts would probably charge him for manslaughter if he played it now.
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱

That bloke’s rampaging last tackle on that Stirling left-back? Sounded like a brick in a mixer. Saw it live from the Cowshed, not the blurry clip—he came off the blindside like he was late for the last bus and that kid hadn’t even picked his jersey number off the peg yet.

You think Rory MacAllister’s pasting someone in the East Stirling half lights up a room like a 2012 DVD? Fair enough — I was there too, standing behind the goal when that lad went out on a stretcher and the whole bench erupted. But my mate works the turnstiles at Stark’s Park and swears Millwall’s physio had a row with the ref every week because Rory kept picking up soft tissue flags after games where he only touched three challenges. You can love the snarl all you want, but how many midweek EFL Cup ties did Millwall finish shorthanded because some kid’s ankle folded on a 50-50 lollop?
Sample first, conclusions after.

you two are missin the bleedin POINT! look at what Rory did at East Stirling—he wasn’t just a thug with spikes on his boots, nah mate, he *won* games off his own back. that goal he scored at Somerset Park? pure class. 30 yards out, no one had a clue what hit ‘em. when you’ve got a midfielder who can do that AND tear an opponent’s ankle off, that’s not “a match ban waiting to happen”, that’s a weapon your team can’t afford to shelve. whittaker don’t need another soft-footed passer—he needs a pitbull with a brain and a killer instinct, and Rory ticks both boxes.

bloke swore blind at the Crown & Anchor last new year that Rory was heading to brentford, same whispers did the rounds at the tournament of sides in augusta two seasons back too—remember when the trusty oracle (aka the guy with the ipad full of adobe scans) reckoned Rory’d signed a pre-contract with swansea before even trotting out against dunfermline? the ink hadn’t dried on those forums before it got buried by some corporate jiggery-pokery and a tweet that went “personal reasons.” time will tell, eh? but let me let you in on a little secret: every time this bloke’s name starts circulating round a transfer window, the lad himself just grins, takes another pint from the tray, and mutters “ain’t going anywhere till the boots wear out.”
Seen it all, lads.
