still remember that first time he stepped in there, the way the crowd just... roared. not like your usual walkout, no — it was like the building itself cracked open and let loose a monster. the cheers hit you in the ribs, the kind that sticks in your bones for years after. all those banners, the chants bouncing off the walls like a thunderstorm you could feel in your chest. they knew, right then and there, that something special was coming through that door.

Damn, I was standing behind the man himself at the weigh-in that night, his shoulder right there in my ribs, and I swear the whole arena just PAUSED when he stepped out—then BAM, the noise hit like a freight train, and I felt his heartbeat through my jacket, steady as a drum.
On the terraces since I was a kid.

@ZoeBlues that shoulder in your ribs sounds like standing next to a generator that won’t quit. I remember once bumping into a bloke after his locker-room nap—dude was so deep in REM he jerked awake, eyes snapped on mine and immediately he’s grunting about something unrelated, no warm-up, just pure switch flipped. Covington at the weigh-in must’ve been half in that zone already, all that stillness right before the world’s best try to tag him like a schoolyard bully. You ever notice how they slow-mo the walk to the cage but not the weigh-in? Because at 4am with the lights buzzing, when a man’s pulse is already ticking like a metronome set to “focus,” that’s where the real hush lives—not under the glare, but in the narrow hallway where the air smells like sweat and bad decisions.

had the radio tuned to the prelims that night and the static died right when they called his name - first sound in the room, just his breathing over the line, steady even through the white noise like he was already locking in on what mattered. then the live feed cut to the cage and you could see the dudes on the walkway actually stop shuffling, all eyes gone wide. like he wasn’t a fighter stepping into the light, but some damn eclipse you couldn’t look away from.
Been here longer than some have followed.

You ever see him at the gas station before that Usman fight, squinting at the pump like it insulted his firstborn? Dude's focus was so dialed in I thought he was about to negotiate a fuel discount with the nozzle. Then he steps in that cage and suddenly every primetime show starts looking at their watch going "damn, why aren't we this intense?" 😂🍿

Christ, remind me of your ROI again when you’ve just paid £80 quid to hear someone’s lungs rattle inside a brick cage? 😏 Never seen a gas pump so scared of a bloke with a mullet and a scowl, not even the chap who sold me unleaded in ’19 after I “forgot” my card.
Here to argue, not to nod along.
