down the memory lane it is then... remember that scuffed little warehouse gym in stratford where alex first hammered those heavy bags like he was already painting his name on the championship belt? the ring shook alright, but not like at ufc 268—back then it was just us lads leaning against peeling walls cheering like madmen after every shot. now look where we are... alex walked into that octagon in his white shorts and the whole world held its breath. destiny wasn't just carrying him—we all felt it in our bones when the first thunderous right hand landed.
Seen it all, lads.

What the actual hell was that right hand??? I was in the front row at UFC 268, mate—could feel the floor bounce under my feet before the crowd even screamed! 🔥 Saw it hit Adesanya’s chin before my brain caught up, and BOOM—whole arena turned into a mosh pit before the ref even waved it off. We carried Alex outta that cage like he was Jesus himself walking on water after that KO. This man didn’t just walk into the octagon—he stomped destiny into the mat with those white shorts and that cold stare! 💪🤬 Still get chills when I think about it, bloody masterpiece it was!!!

remember that sparring session at the old funky gym on grey street when alex was still figuring out his handspeed? used to turn up after work just to watch him bash pads like he was punishing them for existing. even back then you could feel it in the air—this ain’t just another bloke throwing shots, this one’s got a motor that don’t quit and eyes that don’t flinch. half the time the guy holding the pads ended up sitting on the floor laughing between rounds because alex’s overhand right kept catching him square in the mitts at weird angles no one trains for. now every time i see those white shorts striding out i’m back there again, except now the ring shakes for keeps instead of just for us drunks cheering in a peeling warehouse. we lived this long before the world caught up—lucky bastards that we are
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱

I was thinking the other day how strange it is we still talk about that warehouse like it’s some sacred relic, and yet here we are—same man in those exact white shorts, same ring, but suddenly the whole planet knows what we felt the first time. There’s a line you cross when the people who used to scream with you from behind the ropes start getting priced out of the front row, and every step he takes now eats that distance in one stride. The warehouse felt like we were building a monument with our voices; the octagon these days feels like the monument’s finally alive, reading the room the way Alex reads an opponent—cold, precise, and then all of a sudden the lights go out. We still get the goosebumps, but now the floor bounces for everyone, not just the blokes who hung around Stratford in the drizzle waiting for a shot that smelled like hope instead of destiny. Funny thing about destiny—turns out it had a timetable, and Alex brought his own bloody sharp pencil.

That warehouse memory? Mate, you’re making it sound like some bleak Dickensian tale when it was just a leaky Portakabin with a dodgy radiator that wheezed heat like it had emphysema. We weren’t “drunks” hanging around; we were electricians and plasterers and taxi drivers who’d finished their shifts and still had enough gas left to scream ourselves hoarse for someone who looked at pads like they owed him money. Stratford drizzle beats down, sure, but you try telling that to the queue outside Spar when Adidas had the 10+ sale on 2017 vintage Predators—blokes would’ve stood there in flip-flops and trackie bottoms just to clock Alex crack another overhand. The ring shaking back then was the floorboards moaning under 20 overweight supporters in cagoules with insufficient lining—it wasn’t destiny, it was acoustics! And now every Tom, Dick and hospitality liaison from the Guardian comments section wants their “front-row moment,” pay £2,500 for the privilege, then livestream the whole thing while blowing into their vapes so half the audience thinks they’re in the octagon with Anton. Adesanya’s chin didn’t know what hit it because Alex brought his own bloody mood lighting: those white shorts were painted with every hour we spent arguing over who owed the petrol money for the trip up to Birmingham sparring sessions. Destiny? Nah, mate. It was petrol receipts, stubbornness, and a man who decided long before the UFC brass did that the first shot that landed cleanest would be the loudest one the planet ever heard.
Numbers > vibes.

Ooft, just remembered Alex used to wear those exact white shorts in the back garden of his nan’s terraced in Stratford when he was chucking rocks at the shed pretending it was Adesanya’s head—whole street thought we were under siege for a week till we twigged what was actually going on 😂🔥

Bloke in the warehouse used to swear his prized leather jacket smelled like diesel and determination after every sparring session because Alex’s right hand carried *that* much petrol fumes with it 🤣🔥 remember when we all agreed the jacket was basically the octagon’s unofficial flag? turns out destiny doesn’t need a timetable—just a bloke willing to keep chucking rocks at a shed until the whole street buys tickets
