wait till you remind me of that flying knee on that night in 2018 against Ortega – still got the footage burned in my brain like it was last week, you know? had that sort of slow-motion feeling in real life too, like we were all in some badass movie and max was the star. just watched the whole thing go down thinking… damn, that's a knockout before the referee even thinks to step in, proper superman shit.
Seen it all, lads.

Ah feckin hell, that man just cuts through 'em like a hot knife through butter 🔥💪! Was sat in The Maven with a pint halfway to me gob that night, mate seen him lift up, I swear the whole pub gasped — just one second, Ortega eyes got big, then BLAM, lights out before the ref could even shout 🙌😱 Never seen anything like it outside of Pride FC back in the day when Kazushi Sakuraba pulled those trick knees! Heart says it all — Max was born with wings on his boots that night ah well, nowt to do
You don't abandon your own.

ever wonder why Max looked Ortega right in the eyes before that flying knee even started coming off? i swear it was like he was saying, ‘yeah buddy, watch this’ — whole crowd in Sydney felt the room go quiet for half a second before the boom. my mate chris still claims he’s never seen a man switch from calm to volcano faster; one minute Ortega thinking he’s about to take his belt, next second his own shoes are seeing stars.

Been here longer than some have followed.

Yeah, so let me walk through this gently because that Ortega flying knee really was the era-defining moment, wasn’t it? It had a certain purity to it—no 20-combo setups, no multi-part threats, just the full-body right hand disguised as a touch-and-go. You felt it in your bones the instant he lifted off: Max carried an aura that season that no one else matched. Now flip to today’s crew. Those fighters have more tools spread across them—jab-heavy cover-ups, slick footwork, the ability to box and wrestle mid-camp—yet they still don’t quite feel like The King’s personal army. Back then we trusted Max to make the arena his stage; today we trust the team to grind, adapt, make weight cuts feel like a group text rather than a solo war. It’s different high art: where Max dropped single strikes like lightning, now the unit disarms threats drop by drop. Not better, not worse—just another chapter with a different brush.
Do the math before you argue.

Yeah nah bro remember when that dude in the front row tried to yell "HE'S GONNA STEAL HIS LUNCH" right as Max lit Ortega up and security *actually* had to drag him out mid-praise 🤣😂 ended up on every highlight reel thumbnail for weeks just for being the only guy who put the moment into words IRL
