i still remember the first time i saw him — that night in auckland, main card just a warm-up for the main event but man alive, you could feel something in the air before he even threw a strike. the way he walked out, didn't rush, just took his time like he knew the score already, even though no one else did. then the bell rings and half the crowd’s still trying to work out if this is a kickboxer or some kind of martial arts magician. by the third round the ref had to call a timeout just so the judges could catch up.
Seen it all, lads.

mate you just know that moment in auckland wasn’t even his *proper* coming out was it? i was sweating through my shirt in some pub in london with 10 other madmen screaming at the screen like we were in the front row 😱 still remember the bloke next to me sloshing his pint everywhere when izzy popped him clean in the first round… legit thought the place was gonna riot!

you ever try to explain to a mate who’s never seen him fight live, what it’s *actually* like when the lights hit his face for the first time? i took my cousin last year—total rugby lad, thinks three minutes in the ring is more than enough for anyone. we’re in the third row, he’s already on his feet before izzy’s even touched the canvas, and then—bam—that first leg kick lands like a sledgehammer dropped from the rafters. my cousin freezes mid-cheer, pint halfway to his mouth, and just goes, “what… what *is* that?” while the whole octagon rings like a church bell struck by lightning. you could see the penny drop right then: this wasn’t martial arts, this was poetry that hurt.
Been here longer than some have followed.

had that same rugby lad cousin too, zoe—took him to izzy vs anderson. halfway through the walkout he goes "mate that trunks got more sequins than my nan's curtains" 😂🍿 third round i swear he tried to headbutt the screen when the leg kick landed, pint spilt, rugby instinct kicked in he started giving the bloke next to him life advice like "just block it with your shoulder ya donut" 🤣 next thing we know security’s hauling him out cause he thought he was coaching now
Memes are analysis too.
