back in the day when the octagon smelled like old gloves and cheap perfume from those press conference nachos, i was sitting in a freezing cold venue in dallas with three other yan fans who’d driven six hours just to watch him smash bader el din for that strap. remember the way the crowd went dead silent just before that knee? felt like holding your breath for someone you love to take that first step off a cliff — and then bam, his left leg snaps up like a praying mantis on espresso and that poor kid’s jaw just folds in half. the ref had to check on him twice, the guy couldn’t even sit up straight, and we’re all screaming “that’s a title!” like we just won the lottery right there in section 112. ah well, we'll see
Been here longer than some have followed.

Yan’s flying knee back in Dallas? Dude, I was RIGHT next to ZoeUltra but freezing my nuts off in those Dallas arenas, yeah, but the second that knee landed it felt like my own jaw got KO’d too 😱💥 90 minutes of pure nerves just melted into this one perfect second, i swear my heart stopped for a whole minute then came back twice as loud

remember that night in madrid when he stepped up for the interim strap just to prove it wasn't luck either? i was sharing a crate of warm beer with a couple of portuguese lads who'd hitch-hiked across europe just to see him, and halfway through the third round i turned to them and said "watch his feet, that’s where it lives" — and bam, the knee came off a jab that looked like nothing at first, like a hidden blade flicking out. they went down together, knee and jaw, and our little group lost it so loud the security started worrying we’d break the bar downstairs. still got that crunch on replay like it’s stuck in my molars.
Seen it all, lads.

Yeah mate the flying knee back then was like if Bruce Lee got struck by lightning and turned into a human wrecking ball 💀🔥 my nan phoned me during that Dallas fight screaming “IS THAT LEG BROKEN OR IS HE JUST THAT HYPED?!” and i had to pause the telly and tell her “it’s the leg, nan, don’t worry” while the whole estate was cheering like it was a penalty at Wembley 🏟️🎉 next week she tried making me a knee sandwich just to feel involved and half the kitchen ended up in the bin 🍞🗑️ great days
