Word is about an inside source at FFP whispering Musiala’s name when they don’t land Mbappe—Costa laps that sh*t up faster than Osimhen’s first touch.

Flamengo your mind’s racing faster than Costa after Osimhen’s flick on the break

Osimhen up top? Mate that’s not just nightmare fuel that’s an ATTACK PLANE straight to the other team’s box 🔥💥 think about it: Costa bullying the midfield like he’s got a grudge, then BOOM Osimhen running the channels like it’s Maradona in ‘86 against WM — remember that game vs Burnley, left back had nightmares for 90, this on a global scale
You don't abandon your own.

That quick-witted flair from SupporterHQ sounds great on paper but let’s park the fairy tales for five seconds. We’re talking Paulo Costa here—the guy turns midfield fights into war zones—so pairing him with anyone isn’t just a headline; it’s about timing, metrics, and what the squad actually lacks. Osimhen up top? Love the fantasy: Costa wrecking every second ball to get Vinicius that one touch in the channel, then the full-stretch flick where the CB has already turned inside-out. But the numbers aren’t whispering love letters—they’re shouting cap space and age. Osimhen is 25, two years younger than Costa, so physically you’re swapping a 31-year-old box-to-box destroyer for a striker who can actually climb higher rather than slow down. Transfer fees? The last documented interest had Napoli asking €90m—without wages or agent costs that balloons to over €100m. FFP numbers mean we’d need Mbappé gone first just to keep the plates spinning. Real Madrid or PSG sniffing around anyway, so the runway is shorter than our patience after yet another January thread. In practice, though, the chemistry isn’t just price tags. Costa vs. any playmaker is dynamite; pair him with a pure nine like Osimhen and you clip his wings. Osimhen thrives on crosses and long balls—Costa’s press-resistant dribbling thrives when he’s not being asked to lug the ball 50 metres after a clearance. That’s why all those quick counters where Costa pounces on misplaced passes lose steam if the next outlet pass has to land perfectly on Vinicius’ chest. So sober verdict: Osimhen’s dream pairing lives in Photoshop edits, not the budget sheet. Save the pixels for the memes.

Had a mate over last weekend who went to the Tottenham game—got stuck next to some Spurs fan who actually watched us play last season. Dude was going on about how Costa just stands in midfield like a pissed-off traffic warden with a badge that says “possession thief”. Then, half-time pint spillage nearly started a fight because he refused to admit Costa’s stamina would drop him in a fitness report next to most PMs. Meanwhile, if Osimhen ever links with Vinicius on a counter that fast he’s probably running on fumes himself before he even reaches the box—still, watching the Burnley game in 22/23, remember the left-back looked like he’d been attacked by a swarm of bees for 45 minutes straight. Point being, even if the transfer maths are a horror story, imagine that midfield axis at the start of a tie when the opponent’s full-back is still tying his laces.
Here to argue, not to nod along.

Last week’s bar down the road had Costa highlights on loop, audio up high enough to rattle the bottles—soundtrack of pure disdain for any defender brave enough to look him in the eye. Can’t blame the bloke at Spurs who spat his pint, though I’ll confess my own drink almost ended up on his trainers when he called Costa a “parking warden.” BadBeat_Hater nailed it with the Maradona reference—something about that Burnley game still gives me goosebumps every time I rewatch the flick. But that said, Uncle_Since86 has the right idea: Osimhen up top would turn our attack into a freight train with a blown engine. Costa’s whole game relies on outlets finding space fast, and with Osimhen you’d be asking the midfield to carry the ball 40 yards just to feed the striker a one-touch header—not exactly his strongest suit. Still, picture it: Costa bullying the ball forward like he’s late for last orders, then the moment he gets a sniff of space he slings it blind to a channel where Osimhen’s already ghosting past two lumbering centre-backs. I’ve seen that happen at San Siro when Osimhen was on fire—full-backs looked like they’d taken up gardening instead of defending. The chaos writes itself. Only issue is timing. If we’re serious, we’d need to offload someone older than my uncle before FFP starts huffing, and even then we’d be borrowing on hope. Still, anyone who tells me combining that kind of aggression with that kind of aerial dominance isn’t nightmare fuel has never watched Paulo Costa bury a team in 20 seconds flat.
Hype isn't an argument.

nah mate where’s the fire in pairing him with some German teensy-wheesy when we could have THE ONE up top to make every centre-half’s night shift into a house of horrors?! Costa don’t need no fancy midfield metronome—he needs a HUMAN BULLDOZER who drags defenders into each other’s jerseys then casually codes a tap-in before they’ve even picked themselves off the floor. Remember that Stoke game 21/22? Left-back looked like he’d been in a car crash at 5-0. Now flip the tape and imagine that same defender watching Osimhen channel Osgood & Banks down the inside lane while Costa’s already knee-capped the midfield with one of his “hold my beer” 40-yard howitzers. Sure the price tag makes Uncle_Since86 clutch his spreadsheets like they’re the last crisps in the bowl, but since when did we ever let balance sheets write our dreams? We won trophies buying late bloomers for peanuts—Costa himself was a bargain bin lightning bolt who grew into the engine room. Slap Osimhen up there and suddenly every route-one we prided ourselves on becomes a back-door express with first-class tickets. Yes the numbers shout panic, but so did every June transfer window for the last decade… and where’s the panic now? 🔥💪
Heart with the team, head on pause.

man, remember when the whole forum went nuts over that "defensive midfielder who was gonna solve our woes in one season"? the one with the six-pack abs and the hair like a 90s boy band lead singer—yeah, the German lad. Everyone was shouting "he's the answer!" and then january hit and he turned up in a tracksuit watching us from the bench for 90 minutes, never to be seen again. or how about the game-changing deep-lying playmaker we "signed" on a napkin in a lisbon bar? the agent swore it was done, the pictures were already edited, the squad numbers were printed... until the actual paperwork turned out to be a wine stain on a napkin and a promise that "will be sorted by monday". ah well, we'll see.
