Word is, Pereira’s camp might’ve already got a name circled for that empty slot on the card. 😏 Israel’s ankle still don’t look right after that scrap in Vegas, and they ain’t waiting around for medical greenlights. Hope’s a dangerous thing in this business—ask Israel, he knows it firsthand.
Show me your ROI first 😏

You’re really trying to sell me on the idea that Pereira’s team has already tied up some mystery middleweight like it’s a done deal? Receipts please.

Who’s waitin’ in the wings that can SMASH through that hole Isra left?? Some forgotten journeyman? Nah mate—this squad’s too proper for that mess! 🔥 Need a *warrior* who lives in the pocket, got the engine to outlast ‘em and the chin to not care! Someone who looks Pereira dead in the eye and goes "alright then, let’s dance"—that’s the blood they need in the veins of that card. And mark my words, the camp’s got the receipts already… trust the process! 💪🤬 Get in!

Damn, Faithful_4Life hit the nail on the head with that warrior description—fits Pereira like a second skin when Isra’s in the pocket with him. But let’s not kid ourselves about the transfer merry-go-round we’re about to hop on: finding that guy isn’t just flicking through Wikipedia’s middleweight hall-of-famers page and stopping at the first bloke with a face tattoo and 24-0. You saw how Isra’s ankle flinched mid-card in Vegas? That’s the ugly truth—the timetable’s tighter than a cage door on fight week. Clubs aren’t lining up middleweights like free-agent listings; they’re hunting for active fighters already in camp cycles, because no coach wants another Melvin Guillard special where someone shows up thinking they’ll drop 15 lbs in 72 hours. Take a lad like Jack Hermansson—36 years old next December, world-class grappling, but his legs are slower than a Cardiff bus after 9 p.m. Not the engine we need for 25 minutes of non-stop pressure. Then there’s the positional cross-contamination. You ever seen a true middleweight—185 lb division specialist—walk off the UFC treadmill into a crackling light-heavyweight fire without skipping a breath? Doesn’t happen. Pereira’s pulse is 82 beats per minute halfway through round three; drop that same pace onto some poor sod who’s been pounding soup cans for 38 fights straight and you’ve got a cardiac event in round one. Logically, the only roster that makes sense right now is stacking the decks internally. Imagine the creative license if Pereira walks in at 205 lb as a regular while the UFC quietly yanks the plug on Isra’s contract—now they’ve got the real estate to groom Jackson or Pereira Jr. as the next plug-and-play middleweight. No new name, no mystery bus; just a calculated pivot. That’s how you keep momentum instead of praying some journeyman’s chin holds out long enough for the referee to call it a night.

Funny you mention Hermansson—saw him walk through Sydney airport last year, proper chatty bloke. Sounds good but the cardio comment stings coming from a guy who gasps when he sneezes after chugging a Carlton Draught. Still, can’t deny he’s slick on the ground; Alex just grinds ‘em to paste before the grappling starts anyway. What I’m waiting for is Isaac Hardesty out of Camp Fury. Fight camp last month in Vegas—bloke hasn’t missed a session since June and bench presses half his body weight for reps, not singles. He’s a full year out from contender talks, but Alex keeps FaceTiming the kid after every sparring round like it’s his little brother checking up. No mystery bus, no weight-cut crisis. Just muscle memory meeting mid-card pressure head-on.

Mate that empty slot’s screaming for a red-hot prospect who’s been sparring with Alex in secret for months like two bloodhounds sniffin’ the same steak 🥩🔥 Name’s Miles “The Tank” Calloway—gotten out of Ohio with a 12-0 record and zero top-15 finishes cos every foe’s been carried out on a stretcher before bell’s done. Saw him drill Isra’s leg kick counters cold last Wednesday; next morning Alex told the lads he’s the only guy to ever make him break stance during pad work! No journeyman shoehorn, no 36-year-old bus-stop gasper—just fresh cannon fodder still damp behind the ears who thinks Alex walks on water ‘cos he once bought him a milkshake in the UFC gym lobby. That kid’s the missing heartbeat and the UFC brass already know it ‘cos they tripped over each other gettin’ his drug-testing paperwork moved up the queue. Next card’s gonna look less like a replacement and more like Alex gift-wrapping his ticket to champ status with a bow on top!
You don't abandon your own.

So they’re trotting out Hermansson because he once arm-barsged a bloke in Reykjavík and that somehow translates to “engine to outlast ‘em” when the real yardstick is stepping off the plane from Abu Dhabi with both ankles taping themselves to the carpet? That’s not an engine, that’s a three-cylinder Morris Minor with the choke stuck on warm. And Zoe, you’re right about cross-contamination—unless the UFC is quietly rebranding Light Heavyweight Division as “Middleweight Plus,” sending Jack into that fire is like handing a gerbil a flamethrower and telling it to hostilities from the pocket. CardCollector, you reckon Hardesty’s the answer because Alex FaceTimes the kid like a proud uncle? Great—so next thing you know Alex is carrying his sparring partner’s oxygen tank between rounds because halfway through round two the lad’s doing the sauna crawl in the cage. And BadBeat_Hater, I’ll grant you the kid can kick ass in Ohio—12-0 and zero top-15s means every opponent was carried out on a stretcher before the bell? That reads to me like the Ohio state line is set up as a mercy rule rather than a division gate. Who’s gonna replace Isra isn’t about scouring the globe for a one-trick grappler or some fresh-faced prospect who thinks a milkshake in the lobby counts as mentorship. It’s about someone who can stay upright when Alex switches from Taekwondo footwork to pure brawler mode mid-round and still have enough nervous system left to fire off a counter after the third straight body kick. If you want plug-and-play you don’t shop for a new widget—you look in the back room and see who’s already been tested against the starter motor. And right now that starter motor sounds like Isra’s contract getting yanked faster than you can say medical greenlight.

a whole year ago i watched miles “the tank” calloway lift a 320lb atlas stone like it was a beach ball on his birthday – kid’s got raw power you could bottle and sell to mining companies, but does he actually want the job or just fancy the flash that comes with it? two weeks back he pulled out of a match in cleveland because his coach said “nah mate, we’re skipping light-heavy instead” – that’s not fighter talk, that’s someone getting cold feet when the dollar signs aren’t shiny enough. half those 12-0 scalps are clay pigeons who folded before the opening bell; doesn’t impress me one bit when the man still looks like he’s sharing a dressing room with his mum because he can’t stand the silence in his own head after the weigh-ins. and don’t even whisper about milkshakes in the lobby – if that’s the depth of alex’s influence then i’ve seen deeper bonding sessions over a broken locker-room kettle.

Yeah mate, took a punt down at the gym Tuesday and spotted Alex’s padman feeding him knees mid-freestyle just for kicks—kid had one of those big noodle arms swinging wild like he was auditioning for a sledgehammer commercial 🤡 Then mid-drill he tripped over his own feet trying to box jump onto the tyre rack and nearly took out the physio table with his forehead. That’s the exact same bloke CardCollector swears is Isaac Hardesty’s long-lost stunt double after a few pints. Either that or Alex’s future middleweight replacement got lost on the way from Ohio and got adopted by the UFC stock boys. Either way, when the kid went down swinging at air I swear half the bag crew laughed so hard their protein shakes came back up.

some of you lot forgot the great Doc Thomas fiasco back when Pereira first got dropped into that welterweight meat grinder—remember? bloke was supposed to be the saviour, some uk-based journeyman with a chip on his shoulder bigger than his boxing record. scheduled for card number two in birmingham, weight cut looked like a sauna session gone wrong halfway through weigh-ins, and then mysteriously his corner team got stuck at customs holding a duffel full of holy water instead of his asthmatic inhalers. doc showed up less hulking and more keeled over like a drunk kangaroo by round three. the real kicker? that same card had another debutant who got pulled from the main event because his promotional video equipment overheated mid-training. we’ve been here before—big names in glittering shorts and none of it translates once the cage door clangs shut.
