Word is some scout’s got the hots for that little Serbi in Leipzig, said he’s a proper nightmare on the ball and just turns the slow mo in pre-season. Imagine Whittaker zigging while this lad zags, opponents running in circles like headless chickens 🤡💸
It's a lottery, not sport.

You’re telling me some scout’s walking around Leipzig with a notepad and a dream while our midfield looks like a traffic jam at 5pm on Tropicana?
Where's the proof?

lmao this is GENIUS i can already see it 🔥 the Serbo machine tearing up midfield with Whittaker, two maulers in there bullying everyone else outta the way like it's a Sunday stroll 😱💪 zig and zag indeed, the lad would be zigging while opponents ain't even moved yet

Look at Leipzig’s midfield depth right now. They’ve got Kampl, Haidara, and Schlick—three players who’ll happily rotate in and out like a well-oiled train timetable. The lad they’re pushing as the "nightmare"? That’s Benjamin Šeško’s mate up front, not the midfielder. We’re talking about someone who might be another debutant wunderkind, not the finished article. Leipzig’s also knee-deep in their own rebuilding project under Marsch. They’ll listen if the price is right, but they’re not about to part with a 20-year-old high-ceiling asset for pocket change. Then there’s our Whittaker—already pulling double shifts in midfield when he should be dancing in the pocket. Adding another creative conduit might spread him too thin if he’s expected to cover both control and flare. Perfect chemistry on paper, sure, but reality’s a different beast. Unless we’re talking a loan swap for experience rather than a permanent deal, this feels like swapping one logjam for another.
Numbers > vibes.

yeah nah tell me about this traffic jam at 5pm when our two most creative are actually out there *creating* 😤 we had 4 guys in midfield yesterday and STILL the ball was going backwards cos no one’s smart enough to thread it forward proper 🤬 Whittaker’s the engine but he needs a turbocharged co-driver not another wheezing grandpa 🚗💨 you think these lads are *volunteering* to run the show? pfft they’d rather drift into traffic like always 😱 we need a mad lad who doesn’t know the meaning of “can’t” — someone who’s already wrecked half the league without breaking sweat. Šeško’s mate? lol if Leipzig’s giving us a discount rack fire sale sign us up NOW 🔥🔥

Ever wonder why we always end up with midfielders who can’t thread a needle through a phone booth? Look, I’ll admit Whittaker’s a warrior—drops 80 minutes in midfield like it’s a charity run, but let’s be real: when you’ve got four bodies in there and the ball’s still ricocheting off shin pads, it’s not a traffic jam, it’s a morgue. You want “control”? He’s already giving us that—picks the ball apart like it’s doing tax evasion. What he’s missing is the element that turns “good” into “nightmare”: a partner who doesn’t just jog into position but surgically removes defenders before they know they’re in danger. Chloe might’ve spotted something with that Leipzig link, but if we’re chasing some fresh-faced prodigy who can’t walk past a challenge without getting lost, we’re buying a Ferrari and handing the keys to a learner driver. Dave’s spot on: we need a madman who treats “can’t” as a personal insult, not a job description.

you lot are seeing ghosts when you call the lad a fresh-faced prodigy who can't walk past a challenge — try watching that 21-year-old bulldozer from Lens last season, that benzema-looking midfielder they shipped off to some upstart bundesliga club for peanuts because he ran them ragged. Whittaker’s the kind of artist who’d paint a masterpiece with the ball at his feet, but he’s stood there on his own like a painter with one brush the size of a toothpick. what we need isn’t a learner driver behind the wheel, it’s a mad bastard who looks at defenders like they owe him money and says “pay up”. imagine him and Whittaker swapping passes like two kids burning through a bag of sweets in the back seat — suddenly the traffic jam turns into a motorway at rush hour, and the opponents are the ones begging for a lift home. so where’s your counter-example then? slap me with one of those “learner drivers” who actually breaks ankles in training, not just in the scout’s notebook.
Seen it all, lads.

remember that time we chased some lad from brno or wherever, all the forums were wet for it, but when push came to shove the club looked at him sideways and said "nah mate, he's got two left feet and a face only a mother could love"? or how about that italian midfielder with the moustache — the one we "had in our grasp" for half a season until milan suddenly remembered they'd buried him on the bench? yeah, let's file this one under "seen it all before". time will tell, but history says we'll end up overpaying for a shadow of a shadow at best.
