Word is Villa are sniffin’ around Sean Brady after that WSOF finisher? Proper kickboxer vibes, just what Dric needs to keep Olivespan on their toes. 😂
It's a lottery, not sport.

Another week, another "Breaking News" from the tinfoil hat brigade—this time Villa "sniffin’"? Funny how every tabloid source smells like yesterday’s chips till you ask where the receipts are. You really reckon Villa’s GM is losing sleep over Sean Brady when they’ve got 400k to throw at some journeyman from the Premier League reserves?
Sample first, conclusions after.

You think Villa’s wasting their time with some has-been from the reserves when they could be getting a purebred kickboxer who carves up grapplers like a Sunday roast? 🔥 Sean Brady in that red corner, Dric gets to work his sweet science on Olivespan’s chin while we all just soak in the carnage... half the fun’s watchin’ the other guys scramble ‘cause they don’t know how to handle feet that fast.
You don't abandon your own.

Brady’s 26 now, but kickboxing pedigree only carries you so far once you’re past 29—ever seen a mid-20s kickboxer flourish in MMA beyond three belts? Look at Cosmo Alexandre: age 30, ten-fight slide after each camp, and the muay thai meter keeps winding down faster than the pay cheque comes in. So Villa’s got to act within 18 months or they’re buying the brand, not the athlete. Add the timing mismatch—Brady’s got an open window after Glory 50 next May, free agency July—Brady’s only available for four months before he’s forced back into another contract cycle. How does that square with Villa’s usual “buy now, haggle later” timeline? Not great. Plus position, not personality, is the real heat sink here. Middleweight is a pressure cooker of grappling luggage; kickboxers who shift down often get folded in the first clinch exchange unless they’ve spent two years on the ground. Brady’s stood up to BJJ black belts in kickboxing rules—good, but those are three-minute rounds, not five; cage versus ring changes the game entirely. You watch how Adesanya handled Pereira in their first rematch when he stepped off the kickboxing leash—still needed the wrestling framework to close the distance. So unless Brady rolls up with a brown belt and 400 mat hours in the last two years, the red-corner fantasy looks nice on the banner, not so nice on the card.
I keep my own tables 📊

ahhh but they’re missin’ the bigger pic mate—Sean Brady ain’t just another foot-n-fist wonder! Dricus gets to pick his poison every round, ya? 🔥 Olivespan’s chin’s already got a history of eating straight-rights cos they forget how to block fast hands! Brady walks in like a middleweight kickboxer cos he IS one—got 10-0 on the feet, last loss was to Zkaev for god’s sake!
Dricus Du Plessis weigh-in
Heart with the team, head on pause.

You ever tried telling a Welshman that his national sport can’t produce a welterweight with both feet and hands? Half the bangers in Cardiff Arms Park would’ve flattened that argument with a right-hand sandwich before you finished the sentence. Sean Brady isn’t some “brand buy,” he’s an active force when the glove’s on—Villa’s “haggle later” line is exactly what’s got Olivespan cosplaying as a glass chin collector. And Adesanya beating Pereira the second time? Oh please, Izzy was already six years deep in MMA timing; Sean’s only 26 and his kickboxing record reads like a highlight reel, not a retirement plan. Four months free agency window? More than enough for Dricus to slap on a title belt and then some clubhouse karaoke—imagine the damage when that front-kick snap meets Olivespan’s shin for the third time in three rounds. Go on then, math fans, tell me again how kickboxing pedigree crumbles past 29 when Sean’s still collecting check-ups at Glory.
Numbers > vibes.

blimey zoe, you’re holdin’ that flag higher than old mother ash in the terraces on Matchday. sean brady is still stitchin’ up knee pads for glory, but you’re already buyin’ the flat with interest—how’s that gonna look when his next kickboxing camp clashes with a five-round scrap in february when the weather’s still proper miserable outside? i remember back in ‘12 we had that aussie kickboxer mate turn up for training at the gym, straight off the muay thai shows, all boots and no grappling foundation. took him six weeks just to stay on his feet when we started chucking knees in the clinch—ended up taping his legs to the cage cos he kept trippin’ over his own toes every time someone dared touch him. cosmo alexandre got folded by holland though, didn’t he? proper three-way dance where the guy put him down like a sack of spuds, and cosmo wasn’t exactly a rookie—he’d been at it since god knows when. sean’s built different, sure, but adesanya proved even the best pure strikers need that mma lube when the distance shuts down. villa don’t care if brady’s got 400 mat hours or just enough to spell “defence” without crying—fact is, middleweight is a wrestling turnstile, and unless brady rolls in with a legit a-game ground game, olivespan just needs to drag him there, camera crews and all.
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱

Brady’s last Glory kickboxing match was in Amsterdam this past December—full five-round war against Superbon, and the dude still had gas left when the bell rang. Saw it live, mate, and the guy’s cardio’s next level; not some “taxi rank” pickup, actual elite conditioning. If he can go 25-30 minutes at that pace with hands like hammers, Villa’s getting a machine that don’t tank—not a flag they’ll wave for three rounds before begging for mercy. 😏
Here to argue, not to nod along.

Sean Brady rumours? ahh yeah, we’ve heard the full bingo roll before—the same lads clamoured for tyron woodley back when he was still bobbing around on the kickboxing scenes, swearing he’d dance circles round the welterweights while olivespan put his head through the cage. remember that? woodley did the whole “i’ll do it, just name the price” song and dance, then vanished back to florida quicker than you could say 5-round title fight. or how about lorenzo ferreira when everyone got drunk on that one stellar run in kickboxing? another three names dropped on here like they were the next coming, all promising fireworks, none so much as sniffed a title belt. time will tell, sure—but we’ve been down this same road before, singing “oh look, this one’s different!” every time.
Dricus Du Plessis cage fight
Seen it all, lads.
